It's a good thing that Michelle Yeoh and Zhang Ziyi are both trained in dance because I imagine the bootcamp for Memoirs of a Geisha would have been horrendous elsewise. For the record? This film is beautiful. The first time I saw it, I thought the end was a bit weak and to an extent - as a lover of tragedy - I still think so. but it's obviously a romance as much as a bildungsroman, so we'll let that be. (Why yes, I did rewatch this yesterday.)

There are a couple of plot elements that I love about Geisha and they're not all that hard to guess. I'll leave that to you, though.

I'm watching The Departed today, then I'm sitting down with my notebook and actually doing some writing. I need something to do before NCIS (!)

I'm glad the place where I live is so sparsely populated, but seriously, everyone should live here. Today, out of my bay, I can see the prettiest morning sky and a field that stretches to the horizon. I am not a country lifer. I can't be out there for long before I get irritable. But damn, this place is seriously pretty.

U-hu u-hu! *snaps fingers* *head movements*

After last week's episode, this one was pretty neatly placed.

NCIS, 4x20, Cover Story. )

I sort of hate that there are only four more episodes until the end of the season, and typically? Sweeps kills me.

edit: The actress I recognised? Was in Chicago Hope. You're right, [livejournal.com profile] fallapartagain, Harmon totally totes his co-stars around with him, lolz. Also: she was totally Dan's shrink lady in Sports Night. Awww.

Look, I know that a lot of flisters loved Life on Mars and I can't really judge it because I saw the last five minutes of the finale, but seriously: what the fuck, BBC? What is it with sequels and spin-offs? Why not just come up with something new? It also means that the guy who played Tyler was the reason why LoM only lasted two seasons.

It's not rational, but this irritates me no end.

In other news, you should all participate in the guess-the-lyrics meme already. Seriously.

edit: There is a person on one of my flisters' flists who spends time basically nitpicking things. I don't really care if they read their fflist and recognise themselves in this, but I just read a comment where they - in their ever supercilious nature - 'I-told-you-so-ed' someone over a spelling. This is a person who is near-sycophantic with their praise and then comes back to rip someone's writing apart. And then they argue, and argue, and argue. For fuck's sake.
