It's a good thing that Michelle Yeoh and Zhang Ziyi are both trained in dance because I imagine the bootcamp for Memoirs of a Geisha would have been horrendous elsewise. For the record? This film is beautiful. The first time I saw it, I thought the end was a bit weak and to an extent - as a lover of tragedy - I still think so. but it's obviously a romance as much as a bildungsroman, so we'll let that be. (Why yes, I did rewatch this yesterday.)

There are a couple of plot elements that I love about Geisha and they're not all that hard to guess. I'll leave that to you, though.

I'm watching The Departed today, then I'm sitting down with my notebook and actually doing some writing. I need something to do before NCIS (!)

I'm glad the place where I live is so sparsely populated, but seriously, everyone should live here. Today, out of my bay, I can see the prettiest morning sky and a field that stretches to the horizon. I am not a country lifer. I can't be out there for long before I get irritable. But damn, this place is seriously pretty.

I can see blue skies out of the back window! It's days like this that makes me wish I lived in one of two beautiful places. I have a blast with my camera every time I visit because there's just so much to take photos of, and it's so peaceful.

However, I'd go insane if I stayed longer than a few days. It's so peaceful and quiet and almost deserted. I'm a city girl. I need noise and pollution!
