Instead of catching up on my backlog of CBS crime shows (and Bones) I spent a lot of time last night watching The Big Fat Quiz of the Year from 2006. Noel Fielding and Russell Brand - together! Why did no-one tell me of this beautiful thing before? They're ridiculously excellent as a pair, not to mention openly hilarious. I love Fielding's humour and the way Brand talks. raeyashi told me to look around for the 2007 edition so that's what this morning will likely be devoted to.

Hee, not ignorance because I can say it's Irish, but I can't tell you which dialect, or if it's Gaelic. So. Irish it is, then, lols.

It's Irish indeed, and our dialects have been standardized in the written form for a while now (though there's still a lot of disparity in the spoken varieties). We call it Gaeilge, but most English speakers call it Gaelic or Irish.

It's a lovely translation too, if not entirely true to the original (for instance, I would translate the second line 'if I don't come in the white summer'). Thanks so much for this. It's lovely to see the Irish language appreciated.
