{ society frowns on decapitation. }
Oct. 25th, 2007 02:54 pmYou know, contrary to the belief held by most people I know in RL, I'm not a violent person at all. And yet. THERE WAS A LOT OF KEVLAR AND ADVANCEMENT MIT GUNS THIS WEEK. And this brought me great JOY. As did seeing Crews beat the crap out of that douche at the end, although (whilst I do dig the chemistry between Crews and Constance) I find Lawyer Lady a little... okay, so, apparently her infidelity IRKS me. Like, a lot! Why did she call Charlie and not her husband? And her husband isn't a douche, either. He's helping her pack! She seems to be in a bad situation, but she also seems to be dealing with it poorly? I don't know. I'm being all randomly judgmental.
Apparently addendum! All of Deadwood may eventually guest star on this show. Last week we had Farnum; this week we had Jack McCall/Francis Wolcott. I'd be more surprised by the latter except that guy has shown up everywhere this week. Next up, Titus Welliver (who was on NCIS this week)? NOT THAT I AM COMPLAINING.
My favourite scene - well, can you guess? I'm pretty easy. It was the scene in the car post-Russian Sleaze where Charlie asks Dani if she wanted to shoot said Russian Sleaze. Whilst I feel like her plot got cut down his week and shoved into a five-minute segue, I still enjoyed that scene. Also: "Why would an angel need... no. No. I'm not doing this with you." Haha, the angel idol in the car! Charlie: "hostile!" Sigh. Bless you. (Also! "Maybe she's not an angel.!")
Now you're sounding like me.
TAKE THAT BACK.
Oh, Dani. But I loved the mirror scene in the fourth act where Crews says it again, and this time Dani just says, "So?" It's not subtle by any means but it's joysome.
ROBIN WEIGERT. How are you so fabulous?
Charlie's reactions are priceless. I love his "quickie-smile". Adorable chap. No, seriously, I love how tactful he can be when hewants to be and how he knows that tact isn't always the way to go. I really love him and Reese as a partnership. I like the way that they work off one another. You know, I was really hoping to be sort of coherent but I guess you can't have it all.

Oh, actually, with regards to Reese's sub/side-plot: so her story in a nutshell is that she got hooked to the stuff and a guy at the same time and one enabled the other, and then she got her heart broken and decided to clean up? Or the discovery of her being stoked led to... something? So her angst is two-fold? (The pilot, though, really hinted at the drugs being the BIG thing - see icon - and the self-destructive behaviour coming from a sense of self-loathing? Although the promiscuity may be an addendum to having her life fucked over by Druggy Lover/drugs. HMMM.) I sort of loved how fucked up she is. At the same time, I sort of want her to... do something? I don't know. Mostly I am gleeful at her "CHARLIE WTF" face.
edit: The overlay music a the end was a version of Joseph Arthur's In The Sun that I haven't heard before. Does anyone know the vocalist? Was a woman, if that helps.

Date: 2007-10-25 03:52 pm (UTC)I love the actor who played Jack McCall/Wolcott. I would kill to see Trixie, Sol, and Al sometime on this show. In a multi-episode arc. Yes. Also, more Robin Weigert, please. And Ron Livingston. Lots of Ron Livingston.
Reese is queen angst here. I'm waiting for daddy issues to complete her problems. :sigh:
Still, I hate nothing about this show and love everyone involved which is entirely rare. It's a squishy, happy feeling.

Date: 2007-10-25 04:07 pm (UTC)Hahaha, did you see RL's brother last week? It took me ages to figure out where I'd seen him before. And I think if we saw Trixie, Sol and Al, I might just die of happiness. (I loved seeing Farnum last week.!)
I think those were pretty broadly hinted at in the pilot, no? So: trifecta. Which: sigh, people, sigh. I mean, don't get me wrong, I like that she has issues! I just... did she need LOTS of issues? Did she have to be issue-laden? Was it a three for two sale at Issues-R-Us? /idiot
Isn't it glee inducing, though? So happy!
