No, really, Glenn Close scares the fucking shit out of me. I haven't even seen the whole of the Damages pilot because I'm that freaked out. Rose Byrne plays tortured/fucked-out really well (as evidenced by this and Sunshine, which, AGAIN, you should really drag your ass out to see) but this show is like The Devil Wears Prada meets Lyon's Den where Glenn Close = Meryl Streep's character + psycho-Rob-Lowe character AND IT'S ALL VAGUELY TERRIFYING with the payoff to The Lyon's Den sort of being THE WHOLE POINT. I don't even know what's going on. There's just lots of blood and tense foreshadowing.

IT'S AMAZING.

Also, you should know: I hate cat macros. Not funny, especially the people who try to make them and sort of DON'T GET THE GRAMMAR behind them. Because, yes, okay, captions on cats, HA HA and the whole idea is sort of to subvert the language. But the SUBVERSION has RULES and when you get it WRONG it's NOT FUNNY, JUST DUMB. I don't even object to the cat macro language because yes, I have a sense of irony beyond the length of my penis, and it's funny to a degree (when you're sharing that language) but PLEASE. Enough already. Fucking FELINES. I hate them nearly as much as I hate the comms on my fflist re: fluffy rodents. RODENTS. Fuck.

I never could see Mac/AJ working past the "hee, AJ thinks she's hot!" - whether it came close to canon or not. I just never bought it. But it had (has?) a reasonable following.

And more people need to see JAG, for reals. It has its fare share of boring episodes, and they're really boring, but the good ones? Damn, they're good.

Well, I was reading the manifesto is all. The argument was convincing. (The argument also involved decreeing Harm as mentally unstable which I could TOTALLY BUY).

I would watch it if I could stomach the random weird humour-ness. I'm immune to its presence in NCIS now so I have to build up stamina, obvs.

Harm was close to, if not actually mentally unstable for the first few seasons! He stabilised after that, but he still had his moments. It was mildly amusing to watch, if not completely and utterly heartbreaking at the same time because Bellisario had this knack for pushing all the right buttons to hit the right heartstrings. Early JAG was possibly as close to perfect as a military TV show can get. Rivalry, action, boringstuffs, comedy, drama, angst... hot casting...

And no! I haven't! I'm a pre-hibernation squirrel; I'm stockpiling. I'm in hospital next Friday, so I'm saving it up so the mother and I have something to do. I'll have, like, four episodes by then. I'm wayyy behind.
