Have updated [livejournal.com profile] duck_cheer at long last. Am a little worried because I haven't heard from any in about a week.

OK, was it just me but other than Edgerton completely kicking ass in this episode (and not just the shooting malarkey, I mean he totally took charge) was this just really, really boring? Sure, I wanted to hug Alan, but Charlie was annoying me and I'm over Don's emo. I understood the point of the scene between him and Edgerton, but I didn't sympathise and I didn't think it was all that well executed. I didn't dislike Colby or David, in fact, they were their usual selves, but the episode felt so completely filler. I just didn't care which is a horrible, horrible thing for me to admit because zjetz knows I love this show. I'm really frustrated by how little I'm connecting to the stories right now. I was also fairly "whatever" about the case.

However: I completely understood and felt Don's resentment at the beginning of the episode. Is it any wonder the guy feels usurped when people just turn up at his crime scene? Charlie wasn't even called. for fuck's sake. And the math was not explained at all. Throwing the muffin on the floor was gimmicky. Gah. I'm irritated.

I don't think I've actually talked about how much I like this show. I don't watch Ghost Whisperer so I don't really care if this is a riff on that. I really like the instance of Raines' PTSD and the way his hallucinations interact with him, especially in this third episode where Alice was right up in his face. I think Goldblum is actually doing a really good job with the character, and it's nice to see Matt Craven and Linda Park back on my 'TV' screen. Goldblum is really making the character work - I like that he's deadpan, I like that he seems fairly real, all things considered, and I really, really like those crazy monologues he has. I also love the opening credits. They're simple but effective.

As far as crime dramas go, it feels like your basic detective genre. There's nothing special about it, no gimmicks, just detective work. That is so refreshing. Don't get me wrong, I love CSI and Criminal Minds and Bones, but this show is interesting without all of that. I know the hallucinations are the gimmick, but really, he's just talkng to himself. He's like Goren but possibly more human, less idiosyncratic. On top of that, the show is just fun to watch. I can't wait for another episode.

Heh, I don't think that actually had spoilers for the episode in it (GIP!). Am waiting for The Black Donnellys which just got shelved, but whatever. Like I said, after the first couple of episodes, the quality of scripting decreased. I hope it amps up again because I really felt that the first two episodes were brilliant. But who knows.

This song is pretty. I don't know if I like it or if it just sounds right. If you see me at midnight walking the streets / you know it's me for I cannot sleep. Originally, I misheard the lyrics which is why I was excited. Now? Not so much.

Your notes on Raines? Word. I'm so tuning in next week. I feel like the show could also be filmed in black and white film, and since it's all about detectives, it would still be cool and would work out without being cheesy. Jeff Goldblum just sends it. Fantastic work, plus, he wears a trench coat! I sound like a little girl, I apologize.

Have you seen the first two episodes? Because they were really good, too, especially the pilot. The opening sequence to the pilot was very film noire.

Hi I just friended you because I think we have some interest in common! I love Numb3rs and NCIS but I am from Germany so I did not see all of the episodes jet! I have to say I don't know many of the songs but I know some artists e.g. Regina Spektor and I think she is good but I don't know many songs of her! And I'd like to say that your icons are great! I would be happy if you friend me back!
