Jebus fuck. YES, OKAY, I CRIED TOO. Darling Larry, circling the earth like the space debris he is so enamoured of. Ilu!
I think it's a testament of Diane Farr that they're only filming one third of her and yet she still rocks every single scene she's in. I liked that tentative branch of friendship coming from Amita. I have been waiting for a while for that to happen already. It's just a shame that Farr will be on maternity, soon. I am going to miss her, too.
The case was awesome, too, although some of the logistics didn't quite make sense to me. I'm getting a little tired of Colby and David doing all the legwork and then seeing Don ignore them. He doesn't even look at them when they're talking, just scrolls up and down the computer screen. It really infuriates me, lol.
I have no far-flun theories regarding characterisation this week, except that I'm really looking forward to Joshua Malina being in the next episode. (Come on, TPTB, I want to do more Don meta, lol.)
The end scene wins at life. Srsly.

Every time Gibbs goes into protect-my-own mode (basically, everytime he comes to Abby's aid), Harmon's face changes so radically and so completely that I can't help being obsessed with him and the way he plays his character. The end scene with him and Ziva was interesting, too. On the one hand, this quiet leadership - go home, Tony has his reasons &c. &c., - but then that beat in the elevator. Gibbs is becoming more and more out of the loop when it comes to Tony, and Tony is at that point where he could competently handle a team of his own, or go solo. Gibbs isn't necessarily the boss on this anymore, at least, not as far as he once was. And that's all a result of the explosion and his memory lapse. He's very in the open now. He doesn't say much, sure, but some of his mysteries are in the open, and Gibbs comes across an old man sometimes.
I love the Tony/nurse story. I like Tony's character so much more when he's having a braincheck. I hope that works out for him. It's taken me half the season to work out that Jenny has him working on a specific external task, and that it's going to be a running story. I'm so dim, sometimes.
Palmer and the probie are still getting it on in the van, obviously, and the line about Ducky wanting to join the gym made my day. It's interesting to me that this is the third (?) time we've had mention of these sexual harassment talks. I like that continuity. I love the red-lighting metaphor that ran through the episode, especially with regards to Abby, Gibbs and McGee. Poor McGee.
Ziva = FTW with the ear-licking. She's so fucking batshit sometimes. Awesome.

Damn, fandom, why did I quit on you the one week you were delivering all the punches? Not that I quit on The Unit, but I have been behind on my viewage. Shit, this episode was amazing as always. The Jonas storyline bored me a lot, but the Mack and Bob storyline was so, so good, especially Bob finally being able to call the guy in the air down, and then that horribly ominous ending. What a fucking awesome show. Seriously, week after week I love it more.

All round awesome episode, and not just because of Rodney. All the character interactions were on top form and basically, any episode that features the return of LORNE OMG, as well as Lizzie being geeky over linguistics AND a heavy use of Zelenka, basically owns me. Nothing in this episode irritated me, which is a relief after fucking Lucius.
Weir and Sheppard eating lunch together! Sheppard and Rodney trying to zen together! Carson and Rodney...doing as they do! Ronon! Teyla's daddy-woes! LORNE, DID I MENTION LORNE? AND ZELENKA. ! (He makes this awesome AIE face when Rodney is being electricked at the beginning. FTW, Zelenka, FTW.)
To end on my usual shallow note: damn, Torri's hair is still so fucking pretty. Trust me, if you're watching Bones, these things are KINDA IMPORTANT.

I have a special love for episodes of procedural dramas that are either really, really about the procedural aspect, or really, really about the people. I'm not the biggest fan of meaningless showcase episodes because they piss me off more than anything. (See CSI: I can't stand the Catherine-centric episodes because they don't tell me anything about her that I didn't already know.) But this was seriously one of the best character-driven plots I've seen in a procedural drama since the 1997/1998 season of Law and Order (7x04, the episode was called Corruption? Basically my favourite ever L&O episode. Lennie and Rey are asked by an ex-partner of Lennie's to help with a take-down, but there's a shooting and the suspect dies. Rey thinks it's a bad shoot and starts to pursue the case himself, and when things go wonky, Lennie steps up to help, albeit resentfully at first. His friend then drags Lennie's name through the dirt and the episode ends with the friend committing suicide. FUCK).
I've been waiting on a Derek-episode for such a long time, because I know that the writers have basically changed their entire concept of the character. Instead of being that ladies man that he was in the pilot, he's now this socially-concerned person, and I love him more and more each week.
Having one of your protagonists be a victim of abuse is always a sketchy move because the repercussions of it have to be neatly dealt with. I frankly think that the CSI writers ahve forgotten that Nick was sexually abused by his baby-sitter, and they're so wrapped up in firmly ignoring Sara's issues (it's like they dealt with them and now NO-ONE MUST EVER SPEAK OF THEM EVER AGAIN; SARA IS BALANCED NOW KTHNXBAI) that even her abuse-radar seems to have been shut down. Morgan can't be preoccupied with it, obviously, because he lives with his history every day of his life, but now we know and his teammates do, too. This episode was about learning what made Derek who he is, and not just for us, but for Derek himself. In 1x05, Broken Mirror, Derek's sore point was the worry that he couldn't be as good as a profiler as the others - that he couldn't measure up. He fought that fear down then, and he fought it down in this episode, too.
The physics-magic schtick was SO AWESOME, especially Hotch's response. So much love.

This show wins this week, and for the following two reasons: I love the Bones/Brennan Family Criminal storyline, and I am so in love with Zack Addy that it's not even funny. The loss of his hair - note, he is the only guy on TV that I can stand with hair like that (most weeks I just want to run a brush over Krumholtz's head and then attack with scissors) - IS A TRAUMATIC EVENT for me. The guy who plays him is quite a bit older than the character, but is so boyish, and the problem is that he looks so small in those suits. I just wanted to hug him. Other than that, another yay for the midseason comeback.

Ha, ha. You know when Hawkes, Stella and Danny are watching the figure skaters spin, and Hawkes is talking about the inertia equations? I was so waiting for someone to scribble on the screen in white, Numb3rs-style. How freaking awesome? lolz.
...that was the Lindsay-tragedy reveal? I-- WHAT? I don't understand what they're doing with Lindsay anymore, and I thought I had a pretty good idea but I think Belknap's pregnancy has really messed up whatever timeline they had prepared for her character. I just don't understand where all the sudden melodrama springs from. Like in the Stella episode from the end of season 2 when she suddenly goes wako over Stella having been attacked - and then now, with Stella actually having to physically reach out to her before - which she completely and rudely rejects. WHAT? I don't understand at all. They need to be more consistent.
Danny geeking out over the paint, Hawkes and the maths-guru stuff (omg, Numb3rs/CSI:NY crossover!), Flack and taking the baby from the other side? All for the win. Awesome, awesome. And the mother was in The West Wing, and I love her a lot.
Finally: oh, Mac. Oh, Peyton. These two break me because I think before now, Mac was sort of disinterested, and Peyton was giving everything where it wasn't really being welcomed. But the scene in the morgue, and the scene when Mac comes to ask for a second chance were both amazing (especially in the morgue where Peyton cuts him off and tries to offer a tentative smile, but Mac just leaves to brood). Forlani breaks me when she cries, dammit. The hug/reunion actually made me breathe a sigh of relief, which made me laugh at myself. I get so wrapped up sometimes, it's daft.
So. Is it time for the next episode yet?

In other news, after beta'ing
twincy's
yuletide entry in the wee small hours, and having listened to Nelly Furtado's latest on repeat for most of the day, I started a new fic at 2am. The first section is Megan (Numb3rs), and the second is shaping up to be Sara Sidle (CSI), apparently. I just need to be patient with myself otherwise it will never get written. Right now I'm having issues maintaining style. I could probably do with a comma condom, too...
Went to the cinema with my sister,
russianvelvet and
xanitia and had more fun with those three than with the film. It was a good film, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations (which, admittedly, were fairly high). Music was good, Robin William's characters had the best lines. Conversation on the way back to the car was faintly amusing:
xanitia: [The mist] is why my mum and dad didn't want me to drive today. Maybe they thought looking at the mist would make me go crazy.
delgaserasca: It's coooold - my faaaaaaaace!
Heh. What you need to know about that exchange is that it was less of a 'she said, I said' thing, and more of a 'I was totally groaning in my witch-voice whilst she was being rational' kind of thing. Anyway, my cousin is here tonight, and five is showing season 1 Criminal Minds so I think I'll be watching that with The Sister. Tomorrow the plan was to work, but I think i actually have time off now? Anyway, I'll be making chocolate squares for my aunts for Christmas. Awesome.
