So this morning, after two days, I finally got around to reading the supplements from the Sunday paper and I found this article on Franz Ferdinand.

I think it was the title that caught my attention – “Brainy boys are better in bed – and on stage too”. Then, of course the quote: ‘The words of Franz Ferdinand’s Michael tumble over each other in a hymn of homoerotic desire’. The article goes on to say that Alex Kapranos has a “film director’s microscopic eye for the minutiae of lust (“she only licked her lips but I saw it…”) and romance (“time every journey to bump into you accidentally”) which are part of the attraction”

“It isn’t only because he looks so good: bonily handsome, skinny as the backlit aliens on the ramp of the mothership in ‘Close Encounters’, carries his guitar like a Tommy carries his gun in an old war movie (You gotta love that simile). It’s because [the fans] realise that Franz Ferdinand’s lyrics are an expression of intelligent hedonism, that only the very stupid and the very clever know how to be happy, and that brainy boys are better in bed."

Ok, I’d just like to say – wtf? I’m going to find the whole article so y’all can decide for yourself but at any rate, it was a good way to start the morning. (The rest of the above paragraph was what I enjoyed most about the article, but only because somewhere along the way, the author lost me completely).

Anyway, I watched the third episode of Spooks last night and whilst I don’t like the newbie as much as I liked tom’s character, it was a pretty moving episode. I felt bad for Danny when Harakat was shot but I was more amused because Harakat was played by this Indian actor who’s pretty big in Bollywood. The episode was very good though, very tense – nice pace, cute dialogue and a couple of nicely-timed cringe-worthy moments to top it all off – especially when Ruth called Adam ‘Tom’. I was trying really hard not to scream.

Last night’s WaT was pretty good too. I enjoyed last week’s too, which surprised me. I’m developing something of a fanaticism for Danny at the moment, though, which looks like it’s going to be unhealthy. Oh well, as long as it doesn’t develop onto The Belly, we’ll all be safe.
