Liiiiiiinkage!
- 1/ BBC's Autumn trailer (♥
2/ HBO are turning Jeffrey Eugenides' Middlesex into a series (♥
the_grynne) OMG DO NOT MESS THIS UP FO'SRS.
3/ T-Rex said 'behooves'; M lol'd enough to alarm her co-workers. Dear
daygloparker, thank you for introducing me to this dinogenius.
4/ Crazy spaceman in Cambridge city. This guy was playing some weird synth machine and singing made up stuff to go along with it. And then he nearly poked this old continental lady in the face and she gave him the ol' evil eye. AWESOME, OLD CONTINENTAL LADY.
5/ YT video of Metric's Help, I'm Alive, acoustic version. I was reminded of this by
zeitheist. Um. Guys. I SAW THIS LIVE AND IT WAS PHENOMENAL. Emily Haines was phenomenal. Her guitarists were fuck unbelievable. This version is low-tempo classy (whereas the performance I saw was crazy raw and loud and chest-thumpingly brilliant) and anyway, why aren't you all listening to this band?

Haha, guys, work has been kind of insane? I have a ridiculous amount to do before the weekend and apparently there is only one day before that arrives, what? Topics of conversation covered in the office today included: swine flu parties (ugh, I wanted to stab someone); SB's not-sister and her not-brother's estranged son; how much MD (who is white) looks like Randy Jackson (answer = surprisingly, quite a bit); how much SG's husband looks like Benicio del Toro (not at all); male need for post-chore approval; secret home names (mine is Freda, what?); loud old people. Etc. Etc.
Also: I ate two packets of belly jeans. Not good.

I have to interrupt this rambling report because Shitwood is on, and I have skewed priorities. Guys. This show. I don't even know how to express how much I both hate and love it. WHAT IS THAT.

And on that note, it behooves me to tell you that Google's spellfuck doesn't recognise 'behoove' as a word. Sadface, Google.

Date: 2009-07-10 02:08 pm (UTC)I watched Shitwood (good name; I shall now steal it) over lunch, and have just read people's responses, and I am not surprised that a) I have reacted to an entirely different plot point to everyone else, and b) when they have reacted to the same one, it's not the same reaction at all, and c) Spooks has ruined my ability to watch almost any other show that deals with secrecy, government or espionage.

Date: 2009-07-10 03:24 pm (UTC)The best part of it happening in Thames House is imagining it happens whilst Harry is in that car trunk so that he can come back & say, Excuse me, Mr Prime Minister, but WHAT THE EVERLOVING FUCK.

Date: 2009-07-10 03:44 pm (UTC)I am slightly confused as to the outpouring of comments about how this series has been chilling, terrifying and shocking, because it really hasn't.
Oh, and they keep saying the MI5 building, which bugs me, and they're not using Fake Thames House (although this turned out to be because they needed glass doors for people to run into)

Date: 2009-07-11 09:09 am (UTC)Was anyone surprised by that? It was on my workplace's intranet front page (because of a reference to Oakington). I lol'd.
Yeah, me too, although I do think the finale was chilling. I want to make a post about it, but I also don't want to deal with the fandom. I was only watching casually! And now I have shit to say? What?
They have said Thames House a couple of times, but I guess they were worried not everyone
watches Spooksknows what that is?although this turned out to be because they needed glass doors for people to run into
LOLS. Excellent!

Also, if you could be bothered (I can't), A Spooks/Torchwood crossover would be ace.

Date: 2009-07-11 09:19 am (UTC)It's terrible but I may actually be bothered to go through that shit. Although I just realised that the most recent series has scuppered my previous Shitwood fic, damn.
