Y HALLO THAR PRETY BOI. ...ahem.
Which is to say: Lancelot is rather easy on the eye.
Shallow observations aside, I continue to find this show entirely darling. From Lancelot slowly winning his way into Arthur's good graces, to Gaius and Merlin's relationship, the episode was a strong 45mins of decent storytelling. Merlin got to regret his actions AND save the day with magic; Arthur got to defy his father AND be noble. Gwen was darling; Morgana was a tease. Marvellous. Everyone ticked all the boxes.
Plus: griffins are pretty awesome. When the spearhead broke off? Oh my.
I especially liked the climax - Arthur still doesn't know what happened; Lancelot proved his worth; Merlin proved his. And then Lancelot continued to show his good will by riding off into the sunset. (Poor Gwen, though; she was especially adorable this week. I felt for her. She's basically S1 Willow at this point.)
To conclude: yayarms! And also, the previews made me VERRA VERRA ANXIOUS for Gaius whom I adore and wish no harm to befall.

Supernatural, 4x05, Monster Movie
UGH GIMMICK. I'm all for pointless stylistics (or stylistics which are a point unto themselves) but I feel like someone thought black and white would be cute, so they ran with it. I'm sure lots of fans found this episode lolarious, whilst I was bored. Dean likes: food (check), alcohol (check), women (check). Thank you for reiterating that a hundred times.
On the plus side: Sam wasn't annoying, I did get the parodies/ironic quality (it just didn't push my buttons), and there are worse gimmicks than B&W.
This is probably one I should have skipped. The baddie of the week made it for me, though, and I did laugh long and loud when he opened the door to the pizza delivery guy. Ah, you have brought us our repast! THAT was pretty funny. But for the rest of it, I was a little bit locked into wtfmode. The problem is my expectations: they're all wrong for this show. And I need to skip the monster-o'the-week episodes, obvs.

Grey's Anatomy, 5x04, Brave New World
I feel like I'm coming at this show all wrong - like somewhere over the course of things my expectations got warped and now I'm getting irritated by things that have never mattered. I'm just not feeling it.
I felt like Derek was something of a dick this week, and Alex doesn't get to be a prick just because he's mad. Izzie was an improvement, and I like how Sloane is kind of 'coaching' the less forthright female characters - Izzie and Lexie have both sort of worked things out with him. And Callie, too, I guess.
I was thrown a bit by the Cristina-and-Dermatology thing, but then I took it for what it was: comic relief. And I liked it, ultimately, because it was the equivalent of the lunch hour breaks, and it felt more natural than other things that have happened this season. I especially liked Cristina teaching Mere the procedure on the grapes, and how that came back in the surgery later with Hahn. (Hahn needs to back. the fuck. off. though, re: Cristina. It's her fucking apartment, too.)
Hurray, George passed! I loved seeing him at the table with the girls, although I felt a bit bad for Lexie. I also liked George's sub-plot this week. His case was endearing, and I liked that he could establish that rapport with the kid. We just like to know how things work. I liked the scene in the Chief's office where he makes his argument. That was lovely.
I don't really have anything to say about Bailey, Hahn and Callie. We get it, both Hahn and Callie are new to the game; they're both insecure, but Callie freaks the fuck out in front of other people. And Bailey provides solutions. OKAY. I GET IT. Moving on, please.
Overall, it was still more of the same. But I think I need to rearrange my expectations, because it's not like this bothered me last season.

Boy cousins have gone to visit The Dad; I am cooking. Still haven't finished this week's Numb3rs. It's looking like a better episode, and yet the character choices are still entirely infuriating. Wtf, show? What's with you?
