True fact: I was raised on this show. I would stay up every Friday with my dad and watch with him. The days I couldn't stay up, he'd record it just for me.

Did you ever read Homicide: A Year on the Killing Streets, the book it was based on? It's an incredible book.

I didn't really know what he was going to be when I finally saw the first season (I'd seen snippets of later episodes, but never anything I could understand) and then I watched, and there was Giardello, and I adore him.

I have been itching to check that book out for some time now; I've not read it, but it's on a list.
