There's no real reason for this picspam (which isn't 400px in width as I thought, hence linkage) other than I like Saffron Burrows (and Jason Statham, DUH), have yet to see The Bank Job and like these pictures. So. Yay?

In other news: Baby Cousin came over yesterday so we watched The Little Mermaid (again) and then played outside. We've been having some lovely weather the past couple of days (hi, it was snowing last week) and The Dad pumped up Baby Cousin's bike tyres, so she cycled and I ran. She does this thing where she stops for petrol ("It's a bike!" "I know, I ran out of petrol." "It doesn't need petrol!" "Yes, it does!") and also stops for traffic lights. Awesome.
Today I've written letters for The Dad. I had a scare with the home PC but The Sister tells me that we often get the blue screen of death. I didn't like the sound of that so I spent some time today backing-up important files. Should have been done ages a go but it's done now.

Also: I watched Lost, natch. First off: how the hell did Claire manage to find someone to cut her bangs? Hmm?
The Islanders can't have children, I'm assuming, which is why they take other people's and why they needed Juliet's fertility-doctoring skills. Which... OK, so if Eko wasn't pure enough for The Island, and Locke is, and children are (again, I'm assuming), then why can't the Islanders have children? Possibly it's an after-effect of the radiation from the button-pushing? But... OK, also: the hatch blew up because Desmond turned the key, yes (I'm guessing this is a fail-safe in case the button doesn't get pressed... which it doesn't. Thanks for that, Locke)? Which thus released the electromagnetic energy that is usually dispersed once every 108 minutes by pushing the button? But where does the EM energy come from? Was it from the machinery in the hatch itself? If not, doesn't the energy still need to be dispersed? Is that why the Others can't contact the outside world anymore? But then why do some of the electricals still work? Hmmmm. I get the feeling that I don't have all the information on this front.
Ironically, when Jack's story stopped being about his ex-wife and/or father, I was interested again. The tattoo is great (he walks among us but he is not one of us) but it's only one of the three (?) he has on his arm. The best part of that episode has to be the guest casting: OMG IT'S BAI LING. I forget that she's actually an actress, even though she was magnificent in Anna and the King. I'm too zeroed in on her fug crimes. More shock-value: haha, Jack and Claire are half-siblings? Damn.
I am finding Locke to be increasingly annoying, but his father - man, what a bastard. I guess this means that Locke's father knew the guy that Sawyer killed? Hmm. Whatever. Locke: stop being asstastic. I get that he didn't want to leave the island, but why stop others from doing the same? His whole mentality regarding the Island isn't freaky because he believes in it as a sentient being, but because it makes him a destructive force.
Man, Desmond has some epic issues. I mean, they're bog-standard until you get to the time-travel stuff. I kind of love that Fionnula Flanagan was in that episode. Alan Dale and Sonya Walger were to be expected after the last time, but she was a real treat. This stuff with Charlie is weird (why go for him of all people? Maybe it's because he's trying to help Claire raise Aaron? Hey, remember when Claire's baby was a demon child that couldn't be raised by anyone but her? REMEMBER THAT?) but I like how Desmond keeps trying anyway. I also like Jin's attempts at English, especially that written-for-laughs scene with Sawyer in Tricia Tanaka is Dead. I was convinced, by the by, that Hurley was accidentally going to drive into the Others' camp/housing development. I'm glad he didn't because bless him.
Kate has been out of character all season; the one-eyed Russian thing felt tangential; Sayid's flashbacks continue to be about his guilt. Rousseau has finally seen Alex! (Now those are flashbacks I'd like to see.) For a moment there I thought Jack had been Stockholmed (haha, I kind of love Tom? Yeah) but it turned out that he was just biding his time. You know. Until Locke blew up the frickin' sub.
To conclude: Locke's Dad, what the fuck?

Believe it or not, I've also been working on my dissertation. I am flipping out because my argument is flawed in a seriously fundamental way and I can't fix it. I don't know if I should re-frame my question or what. So, yeah. This is me freaking out about that.

New New Amsterdam, huzz.
