I try to question when a show tries to present someone as definitively a 'good' or 'bad' guy but... GUYS. I sort of LOATHE Walt's mother? I mean. I know the woman's dead (not a spoiler, for those that care) but SERIOUSLY. What a manipulative - I am kind of appalled by how she supermanaged Michael's involvement with Walt. !

Anyway. Yes. She makes me randomly FURIOUS.

edit: LOLS. This is not to say that I am not ANXIOUS about Island happenings such as frickin' POLAR BEARS and recurring NUMBERS O' DOOM. Just. I AM THINKING ABOUT THOSE THINGS TOO. But Mother o' Walt brings out my Irrational Hatred (or maybe it IS rational, just not ON POINT. You know. What with the wider range of WEIRD going on).

Please to not be spoiling me, okays? (Can you believe I voluntarily gave up this show two years ago?)

I no longer watch LOST, it got so confusing and cases of WTFery that I gave up during season two. Though it seems that people are saying that LOST has become good again this current season, but I'm refusing to give in. I refuse!

I stopped watching part-through the first season because I went to university and missed a whole slew of episodes. Then I couldn't be bothered to catch up, and reviews went down anyway.

Except now one of my housemates really likes the show, and another one liked it when she watched the first few episodes that I saw, too. So we're watching the WHOLE thing. I think it'll be better this way because then you don't have to wait FOREVER for a new episode, and it's less frustrating.

I might start watching it again. Might, being the key word here. I have the first season on DVD so perhaps I can rewatch that, but I definitely agree it's better to watch a series with all the episodes being finished so you don't have to wait tediously another week for a new episode, and hiatuses are even worse.

I like shows that have complexities, though LOST seems to confuse me more than make me want to theorize like I do with a lot of my shows. I guess this is why I read the spoilers even though I no longer watch the show, because perhaps I can get a sense about where they're heading so I don't have a huge headache trying to figure it out when I do go back and start watching again.

I started watching Heroes which people said was much better at delivering (in its first season, anyway) but I found that show so boring. So I ditched it. (No doubt I'll come back to it when it's all over and marathon straight through.)

I like reading theory posts! But I'm also a spoilerphobe so I only read the theories after I've seen the episodes, lol.

Truthfully, Heroes did start off slowly in the beginning half of S1 but it gradually came together and, IMO, is SO much better than LOST in terms of structure and giving the audience a sense of closure on certain plots and storylines while still having questions hang in the air. With LOST it seems questions are never really answered and we keep going on this back-and-forth ride and really, I got tired and lost interest in that. Though I am in no way comparing Heroes to LOST because obviously they are two entirely different shows that attract different audiences, I just found Heroes to have more interesting stories to tell (even if S2 wasn't up to par, I still enjoyed it and looking forward to S3).

Oh believe me, for my major fandoms I'm a complete spoilerphobe, though I tend to do theories anyway based on my own thoughts on where I think a show could be heading, or would like to see happen based on evidence on previous episodes.

Well, I saw the first half and then went back to uni; if I'd cared enough, I'd have found some way to watch it, but I just didn't. (I think it's also because I'm really more into procedural dramas than actual dramas.) Also: I'm not so fussed on resolutions as long as they add up at the end? That continuing sense of, LOLS, WHAT NOW, doesn't wind me up. re: Heroes, though, it didn't help that I didn't take to any of the cast members. I know Hiro and Claire are people's darlings, but I found the former to be a cheap way of getting people invested in a show, and the latter was too whiny. I'm know that lots of people enjoy the show for a handful of reasons, and I don't think it's bad, but it just turned out not to be My Thing. (Um. Says the girl who inadvertently ended up LOVING Women's Murder Club which is. Well. ATROCIOUS. But I love it! So I can't really make any excuses.)

Yeah. My biggest one right now (natch) is Sarah Connor Chronicles because, well. WHAT WAS THAT. And also: Derek turned out to be Super Interesting.

For me it's more about the journey of the characters and the coming together, whereas with LOST or TSCC we're immediately thrown into the action and trying to follow things as it goes along, so that's the major difference I think. Then again, Heroes does follow a comic book format so you're either tuned in or tuned out to that.

Hee, Derek the Super Interesting character. I definitely agree, I hope they keep him around for a LONG LONG time. Srsly.

I've been talking about this for years (i.e. what does and doesn't attract me to a show) and I've found that I like procedurals because of their format (which most people find boring) and less for their characters. But that said, I dropped Without a Trace because I found the majority of the cast to be moronic, and I haven't watched CSI since Jorja Fox left (I have the episodes; I just haven't wanted to watch it). House is a big favourite, and even though I initially dropped it due to uni constraints, I now get really irritated when I watch it because it's a procedural, but the characters drive me batty! So. WHO KNOWS.

But then, I'm also a massive fan of the miniseries, with its tight plot and characterisation, and its high production value. In England, nearly everything is a mini-series, which I love, but HBO's miniseries are fantastic. I love watching one-offs because the plots are so damn tight. So. I don't know. Overall: I watch a LOT of TV, so it doesn't make too much of a difference at the end.

DEREK REESE. I don't even know what to say. I remember Green when he was on 90210, for crying out loud. AND NOW THIS. I sort of love him in this? He's fabtastic.

Hee. See, it's difficult to say what attracts me to shows and what keeps me with them. I have shows that I'll stick with no matter what happens, some that I'll watch casually but not be disappointed if I miss an episode or two, and shows that I'd gotten into but have fallen out of over time. For the latter sometimes I won't agree with the direction of the show or its characters, or if it feels like it wasn't the show I feel for in the beginning, so I guess my reasoning for liking shows differs depending on where they're headed and if I, as a viewer, approve given the context of that universe. Does that makes sense? *shrugs*

I don't know what it is about Derek, but he totally won me over, especially in that last episode.
