Aforementioned picspam, all from the latter end of the episode (um. Because I forgot to cap the earlier parts). Spoilers, naturally.

I find the way that Cameron is waiting for Sarah fantastically scary, especially considering the scene she left in her wake. I wanted to cap this to capture the way her head turns, and also her ridiculous outfit. Unfortunately, like most of the end scenes, this one is really dark.

"He's dead. His sister, too."
"Did you kill them?"
"No. It wasn't my mission." !!!!!!!!

Whilst I hated the first 25% of the dialogue in this scene, the latter 75% was stellar and accompanied by astounding acting from both Headey and Dekker. He's so hurt by her, and she needs him to know the truth... and that final exchange. "I will always find you." "I'll always find you, too." They both hit those lines perfectly. It could have been too saccharine but they were both sincere. A difficult scene, I think, more than people might realise on first-look.

Some of the shots in this episode are beautiful. I think that the show has some pretty subtle direction sometimes, but this week was pretty much off the chart at some points.

Ugh, I wanted the fire glow, but it didn't come off right.

This is one of the better caps from this part of the closing montage. I think you can sense the sombre tone of the scene (Sarah is talking about loss of faith, and how John no longer sees her as a godly figure), but the glow of that fire is something that's missing. Between that, the smoke and the sparks, this was beautifully composed.

T and I especially enjoyed the irony of this scene because we felt that his character - in the movies - was a complete asshole. That said, it's a chilling shot when Ellison is looking through the persplex at him and he's yelling, "They're here! They're here!" The next few shots are also amazing.

This is Ellison, stuck in a really odd position because he thinks the shrink is mental (he tried to KILL him) but he also believes him. He's seen the hand, after all. And, he's also seen...

SARAH FUCKING CONNOR, BACK FROM THE DEAD. This flashback is so apropos. You know that Sarah's the one that helps him, but it's only at this moment that everything changes. He saw her face, he's seen the hand. He knows something is going on. But... he's not there yet, he's not at faith, which is why you see that move to the Bible group, I think. (One of my - many - theories is that if Cameron really does go rogue, Ellison ends up joining up with Sarah Connor to even the numbers. Or Ellison is there during the showcase with Cromartie who, by the way, is freaking me out by his absence.)

And now to some of my favourite images of Cameron; that intense focus on unlacing the shoes, the echo back to Maria's accusation that she is 'too mechanical', and Sarah's monologue which is still so certain that Cameron cannot learn art because she is too much of a machine. But Cameron is a very different kind of machine to the ones we've seen before. If she can eat, she can dance. And dance she does.

This scene is pretty dark but oh, that back-lighting is beautiful. If you wanted to go there, you could see it in terms of her character - the light and the dark, all in one place, a girl in the shadows. But seriously, the dance makes me shiver.

His face is just... you can see everything there. The incredulity, the pain, the admiration of her skill. And what the hell is Cameron doing dancing? What about it intrigued her? Does she know she's being watched? The more I think about this episode, the more she scares me. Which is excellent because I love the character.

Did I mention how much I loved the final scene? And not just because of the ballet - although that didn't hurt. Green proved some serious acting chops in his wordless performance. Just amazing.

This afternoon T and I watched Tombstone which is a Western featuring the Earp brothers. Totally my thing, completely wonderful. It was nice doing something outside the library for the first time this week.

Date: 2008-03-02 04:13 pm (UTC)(Haha, I was thinking of you when T and I watched Tombstone earlier this week because Paula Malcolmson plays one the Earp wives. It's a small, token role, but I knew it was her as soon as I saw her.)
