It's five to nine in the morning, and I've been in the library for 15 minutes now. Yeah. My life is not in the least bit awesome. But, I need to use today to write the bulk of my dissertation, so. Unfortunately, the English department has scheduled a third year meeting for 2pm, which is just what I need - something to disrupt the day. What the fuck, world.

That said, Google is awesome. I am using Google Reader which at first I thought was sort of superfluous because, natch, ie7 comes with an in-built feed reader. But! I didn't check my feeds this morning and now I'm in the library, on a library computer checking my feeds. I don't like to miss the latest Fuggings, or, of course, the latest xkcd comic. THESE THINGS ARE VITAL. (Omg, it's even mobile compatible. Sometimes I really do feel like I'm living IN THE FUTURE.)

Other awesome google things! iGoogle, aka, the persoanlised homepage which, I admit, I hate using on my laptop. But again, when I'm away from My Things, it brings My Things to me - blogs, news, weather, gDocs summary, inbox summary, access to my notebook. !!! Then, natch, Google itself, and Google Scholar which is oddly useful when I'm on campus. I love this accessibility. Really, the only Google things I don't use are the calendar and the photo scrapbook thing (picasa?), but only because I don't need them even when I'm away from my laptop. (I say 'only' - Google actually has tonnes of other applications, like Blogger, Orkut, Videos, a finance thing that I don't really understand...) Other than that Google runs my life. So when the robots begin the war, I'll obviously be one of the first to go.

Relatedly, I really, really, really would like to invest in a high resolution monitor for the home PC. This fucker is amazing.

So, to stay on topic: off to gDocs now, to write this mofo. 500 words per hour? Pfft. I don't think so.

edit: UGH. THE LIGHTS KEEP FLICKERING. What the hell i sthe point of motion-operated lights if they won't stay on for more than three seconds at a time. And now there is NO LIGHT AT ALL. And now there is. Not. Is. Not. UGH.

Do we have the same brain or something? I was just sitting here composing a love letter to Google in my head as a way to start my morning... OH GOOGLE READER, HOW YOU SLOWLY BUT SURELY HAVE TAKEN OVER MY LIFE.
