I find that last.fm is not all that good at marking what I listen to because if I stick something on repeat - which I do often - it only scrobbles it the first time I play it. So... this list is somewhat inaccurate and makes more sense if you see the top50. Patty Griffin is right at the top because when I was listening to her, I listened to her whole albums, not just single tracks. Her albums, and Tracy Chapman's, are probably the only ones that I listen to that way. Maybe also Tori Amos. The rest of the results are people for whom I don't necessarily have full albums, but whose scant collections I listen to repeatedly.
What was the first song you ever heard by 6?
(The Be Good Tanyas.) The Littlest Birds. It was on Grey's Anatomy and... I didn't really pay much attention to it. And then last year T (my housemate) started playing it early in the morning. She has an excellent subwoofer, and all music sounds better coming from her speakers. I fell in love with the Tanyas after that.
What is your favourite album by 2?
(The Weepies.) THAT IS A HARD QUESTION. Mostly because I've never heard a full album by them? I have quite a few live sets which I LOVE.
What is your favourite lyric that 1 has sung?
(Patty Griffin.) There are so many! But from Making Pies: "you could cry or die, or just make pies all day"
From Useless Desires: "I walk down to the railroad track and ride a rusty train / with a million other faces I shoot through the city veins"
And from Florida: "and the Summer comes marching in with his heavy boots on / kicking along the blacktop sidewalks of A1A / the young girls in their bare feet, cigarettes smoking / looking every which way; wishing and hoping"
How many times have you seen 11 live?
(Damien Rice) NONE. :( But I came pretty close in September. Sigh. Amusing trivia: I keep referring to a lot of Damiens/Damians as "Damien Rice". Embarassing!
What is your favorite song by 7?
(Alison Krauss & Union Station) Crazy Faith, or Gravity.
What is a good memory you have involving 20?
(Simon Webbe) Haha, going to B. avec The Mother and hearing one of his songs come on the radio. I was in a bad mood until that song played. The day itself was mostly average.
Is there a song by 3 that makes you sad?
(The Killers) Yeah, a couple. When You Were Young and Why Do I Keep Counting?
What is your favorite lyric that 14 has sung?
(K's Choice) Hmmm. Probably from Almost Happy: "if I could look beyond your face / and photograph your hidden place / would I find you smiling in the picture?"
What is your favorite song by 19?
(The Cardigans) THAT IS HARD. You're the Storm probably, although I also love Live & Learn and I Need Some Fine Wine and You, You Need to be Nicer. All three are EXCELLENT tracks.
How did you first get into 22?
(Eastmountainsouth) They came up on my Kendall Payne playlist at Pandora.com. Not that I can use Pandora anymore.
What was the first song you heard by 21?
(KCRW.com) I have no idea. It's not actually a band, see, it's a radio station whose podcasts I listen to. I do know that I was introduced to The Pierces via them, though, so that has to be something.
What is your favorite song by 4?
(Tori Amos) Surprisingly easy question. Taxi Ride: "and I'm down to your last cigarette / and this 'we are one crap' as you're invading / this thing you call love / she smiles way too much"
What is a good memory you have involving 13?
(Kendall Payne) I don't have any memories involving Kendall Payne. Other than receiving the CDs in the mail.
Is there a song by 23 that makes you sad?
(Bebe) I don't really listen to her sadder stuff, but Cuidándote is pretty sad.
What is your favorite album of 15?
(Death Cab for Cutie) Plans, hands down. I fucking LOVE that album.
What is your favorite lyric that 9 has sung?
(Rilo Kiley) Difficult! Probably A Better Son/Daughter: "and your mother's still calling you insane and high / swearing it's different this time / and you tell her to give in to the demons that possess her / and that god never blessed her insides"
How many times have you seen 5 live?
NONE. NONE NONE NONE.
What is your favorite album by 12?
(The Pierces) Thirteen Tales of Love and Revenge.
What is a good memory you have involving 25?
(Natalie Merchant) Spamming avec
wliberation during Easter break two years ago.
What was the first song you heard by 18?
(Dave Matthews Band) I have no idea. Wait, not true: Crash Into Me.
What is your favorite song by 17?
(Basia Bulat) [I've known Sheryl Crow longer] Hmm, I really, really adore Little One (duh) and Snakes and Ladders but my favourite has to be The Pilgrimming Vine.
What is your favorite album by 24?
(David Gray) White Ladder but not by much.
How many of your top 25 have you seen live?
NONE. Sadface. I am not cool enough to go to live gigs.
Relatedly: I have a new Tracy Chapman album, woo!

Date: 2008-02-01 12:11 am (UTC)I hate that. At first I thought it was just my account or something but I guess not, it's so annoying. And when I listen to an album on repeat each song appears as I listen to it but then at the end of the week that artist will only have like 13 plays - what the hell? And then other times I'll listen to an album and only the first and last songs have been scrobbled. Last.fm is so bloody odd.
Aww, well I've only ever been to one gig. I would LOVE to go to more but I unfortunately have no one who listens to the same music as I do. I've missed seeing Stars, Rilo Kiley and Patrick Wolf because of that. SADFAAACE.
