re: last week's Life (the one with the video game) -

When they say Persia what they actually mean is Iran. And if you want to know how fucking ridiculous I find that, well, Omid Djalili says it best:

There was at time when we used to be embarrassed to call ourselves Iranians. We used to call ourselves, we'd say, I'm not from Iran, I'm from Persia. I'm from Persia. As if that made a big difference. People would say, "Oh, really, you're from Persia? You mean next to Assyria, Mesopotamia and Thrace?! Of course! What a noble race of people! Actually, it's a bit like a Persian cat, makes sense - a Persian cat, they're so sweet. Not an Iranian cat, no. An Iranian cat has a bomb under the body warmer. A Persian, that's something completely different."

Yeah, god forbid we expose Dani as being half-Iranian. Or, you know, Sarah Shahi.

The above link might not work if you don't live in Britain. This is basically the same sketch but with more dialogue.

I wondered about that, because to my knowledge, Persia *was* what *is now* Iran. I looked it up to confirm, and Wiki sez that Iran was called Persia (by non-Iranians) until 1935. So, how old would that make Dani's mother exactly?

Anyway. Were you able to enjoy the episode despite this?

However old her mother was, those kids that were killed were Iranians, not Persians. Lt. makes a sly reference to it ("I don't need the war over here") but through-out the episode they're referred to as Persians.

Oh yeah, I loved the episode all things considered, lols. That was just the sticking point. I love the scene in the elevator when Dani's all, don't get him started! And then, "You bring up the butterfly again and I'm going to find it and rip its wings off." LOVE HER. A LOT. (Also: when she speaks in Farsi. Wow. That was really quite hot.)

And Ted, bless him. !

Is it me or did Crews have a crazy amount of chemistry with that blonde woman? Aiesk.

I ALSO saw the most recent episode of CM. Prentiss had her hair in a ponytail and I was VERY HAPPY.

Well... yes. Dumb.

There are no words for Dani and her sheer awesomeness. (YES. What I love most about this episode is that they DIDN'T make Dani auto-relate to the victims just because they're of [partially] the same ethnic background.)

Ted/Olivia = most adorable thing ever. I so want them to get involved, if only so that Crews can say something along the lines of "You're sleeping with my stepmother!", because !!!.

HE DID.

Also, even though I called the Dani's-father-association as far back as the pilot, I still find it sort of awesome because it puts the partnership in a slightly difficult position, or rather, it puts Crews in a slightly difficult position - one that he's constructed for himself. Which— flail! (Because I sense that he trusts Dani a lot, and she definitely trusts him, and now he's all, SHOULD I BE CONFLICTED OR SAD? And yay.)

Haha, yes. TED. Bless him. Every week he becomes more interesting to me because at first he's the sidekick, but he has his own bucket of angst and I love his adorableness. Also: ALAN ARKIN. HUZZ.

Sarah Clarke (actress) IS AWESOME and the two of them - sitting quite close! Crews, leaning in! Living in the future! !!

Seeing his show was fantastic; I've never laughed so much. I love his anecdote about head-slapping the skinhead in the cinema.

I went to see both him and Dara O'Briain in the space of a week - and even though I'd been looking forward to seeing Dara more I actually found Omid Djalili's show far far funnier. It was one of those shows where I was actually in pain by the end from laughing so hard!
