{ I guess we're gonna pretend. }
Sep. 10th, 2007 10:42 amI have photos to upload but the batteries on my camera are fucking around, so more on that later. I should really start attacking the mess that is currently labelled "my possessions" but I probably won't bother with that until Wednesday night. Why rush? lol. EVERY YEAR.

I, um. Might be buying a new phone? My current one is still made of win but has difficulty (a) charging and (b) retaining charge for the period of time that it should retain charge for. The Mother is freaking out about this, so I checked out some phones last night, found one that seems to do what I want it to do (i.e. call and text in an uncomplicated manner) and seems to have a decent contract. Have emailed my cousin (who works for T-Mobile) to consult his veritable phone-fu, am now waiting for a reply. I can then broach the topic with The Dad.
So far I'm looking at an 18 month contract, £20 p/m. This gets me other things, apparently, but it's all bzuh-making to me. Laptops and computers, sure, I'm there; most other forms of technology have me smacking my head against furniture. Phones especially.
Recently I had to borrow The Mother's cheap-ass phone because my charger was busted so I couldn't use my own phone. The buttons were ridiculous and I couldn't work out BASIC THINGS. I was SO STRESSED. The thing that really stumped me was that the yes and no buttons went one way, but to select something, I'd have to hit the no button. To turn the phone on and off, you have to hold the red/end call button. DEFIES LOGIC. Anyway, yeah, that was really stressful.
The phone that I have currently is a Nokia, and the phone that I'm looking at is also a Nokia so the basic set-up should be the same. On the whole, I prefer the functionality of my current phone (it doesn't break easily, the buttons are bigger and slightly rounded, as opposed to square and flat) but I really do need to get a new one.

edit: Well fuck that idea, then. Showed The Dad; he'd prefer I stay on Pay As You Go, which I'm reluctant to do because when I want to make a call, I'm not always sure that I have the credit and what have you. I don't use my phone much because I'm always flipping out about credit. The Dad: "I don't think you're using £20 p/m now, are you?" Me: "Well, no..." So. Should probably look for another deal. I guess this will be better budgeting on my part. (Dear Self, This is the reason why you need to find employment.)
edit ii: HAHAHAHA. The same phone on a pay-as-you-go tariff is £130. NO THANKS.

Date: 2007-09-10 04:59 pm (UTC)Yeah, except I found a phone from the company my cousin works for which is cheaper, does the same things and is pay as you go. So. Huzz?

Date: 2007-09-10 05:04 pm (UTC)Huzz. indeed! We should exchange numbers so we can spam as we go. Because we need more opportunities to contact one another, OBVIOUSLY.

Date: 2007-09-10 05:13 pm (UTC)I should've mentioned that I meant spam in text message form, but in my mind that was obvious.
I cannot find the poem I mentioned, but I'll type it out as soon as I have my textbook/have access to one in the library. SO GORGEOUS.

Date: 2007-09-10 10:20 pm (UTC)If you've had it a long time then consider springing for a new battery. Batteries do wear out over time and their ability to hold a charge gets worse the more you use it/charge it.
That Nokia looks a lot like my previous one which I liked very much. My current Nokia is just eh, but seeing as how it was a gift I can't complain.
So I'm with you on the whole 'get new job for new toys' bandwagon. ;-)
P.S. Bloody hell! 130 pounds (not even *dollars*!) for that phone? They're off their nut!
