Oh boy. There are Doctor Who episode reactions everywhere and they all make me cackle unpleasantly. I can't help it! I wish I cared more about the fandom because then I could participate but I just don't care enough. My only comment is that I like Martha and fandom, batshit though you are, you're also pretty amusing.

My Deadwood DVDs arrived, huzz! So. That's what I'll be up to in the near future. Also: someone on the fflist is currently obsessing over The Magnificent Seven which makes me deliriously happy. That show was Very Special. Very. (*loves*)

Putting an apostrophe in 'flist' goes against my aesthetic sensibilities. I know why people do it, but then try using the genitive and there's a whole party going on. (Like Teal'C's which I can deal with only because of the uppercase C.) My argument is that I long since stopped putting an apostrophe infront of plane, and I've never put one in front of blog. I know 'flist' is the combination of two words and that 'fflist' is actually impossible to pronounce. And yet: no apostrophe in 'flist' because I use it like a combination of two words to make a new one, not a contraction.

I've been thinking about this too much.

...Heh. Your random geekness is adorable. Also, agreed, because those apostrophes usually only make my head ache. They're not really necessary, in my opinion. They don't really serve any grammatical purpose or anything. (Pst. 'fflist'? What's the second f for? ...No, wait. Now I get it.)

Well, they do serve a purpose because the apostrophe denotes the absence of letters (i.e. 'riends'). But like I said, I don't consider the word to be a contraction because I use it like noun. It's an amalgamation and we have plenty of those in the language (says the girl who as ofyet has not found a similar example. I know some exist, though) without apostrophes. /geek *g*

*G* Well, yes, I do know why they're there, but I meant that they don't really serve a purpose in practice because, as I see it, they're become such common terms that people don't really even take notice of what's missing. They've become words of they're own, I suppose. Like blog. When I see that word, I don't even consider the missing 'we'.

Also, excuse me if I'm talking complete rubbish today. I apparently am in That Sort of Mood. It's like verbal di-- okay, I'm not going to go into those metaphors. Ugh.

Well, no, you don't, because I haven't really been informative re: life at the moment. *G*

It went alright. I didn't get all my reading done (three books on the train *G*), but that was alright because I got lucky and the questions were on the books I had read. There was one on Crusoe, which was yay, because I got to rant and show off. I got there Thursday evening, had dinner with the Sister, went to exam in the morning, and then left on Friday afternoon. There was this medieval fair at the market right, and I popped down there while waiting for my train. It seemed fun.

I am, I am. It's so much meatier. And yes, it was relatively painless. I was surprisingly zen about all of it.

I wish I could have spent a bit more time there, had a proper look around, but alas, I only had time for a quick beverage and a piece of pie. (No. That would be awesome. Apparently, they do have actors there, acting out things in the midst of the crowd. Like last year, the Sister said that they had a duel with swords. I didn't get to see any of that sort of thing, though. Shame.)

Hee, sword fights. We have those sort of fetes once or twice a year in our vilagesque town. So much fun. Jousting looks vaguely painful but is ultimately made of yay. (I always support the black knight because he's much more interesting.)
