So, [livejournal.com profile] mandysbitch has been doing a series of interviews with people on her flist (other fanfic) writers and it's been a really good read because her community of people is the same community of people with whom I associate all good fanfiction. I found these people via The West Wing and I still read their work. These people are old-schoolers, the ones who wrote for Voyager and X-Files before seguing over to Buffy and The West Wing/Sports Night. I'm looking forward to reading more.

No, [livejournal.com profile] mandysbitch is not on my flist; yes, I do regularly read her public entries. Yes, I am one of those people who regularly reads a person's journal and their entire flist. (It's not hers, btw. That seemed important to point out.)

--

[livejournal.com profile] twincy linked me a bunch of actually decent NCIS fanfiction which, let me tell you, is really fucking difficult to find in this fandom, for whatever reason. Mostly Tony-centric, and some McGee. It left me wanting (a) more and (b) Jethro. So. It's been one of those days.

--

I finished reading A Box of Matches. I think I should have sat down and read that all in one go because once I got into the rhythm of the narrative, it wasn't so bad. I think its beauty lies in its aimlessness, which is also what makes it so damn irritating. I wouldn't read it again, but I wouldn't discourage others from reading it.

I unearthed my copy of The Amber Spyglass which is shiny and golden, not to mention a hardback edition. I'm in the mood to read and read and read. This is not exactly new but unprecedented and refreshing. I have rediscovered literature (even if TAS is kidlit).

--

I have a yen for old-school Buffy; I watched Rome 1x01 today, and then the latest Studio 60. More Rome tomorrow and then I'm hoping to get back to my Criminal Minds marathon. Some time soon, I need to start rewatching all of Stargate: Atlantis. Preferably before mid-July. Or maybe not. Maybe having new episodes will help? I don't know.

What I do know is that tomorrow I can watch more Army Wives and decide whether or not it's worth it (I mean, beyond the joy of seeing Kim Delaney and Catherine Bell on screen). Also: NEW BIG LOVE. I am so fucking excited, you have no idea.

--

Eventually I have to start writing. Also: I'm putting together prompts for another MFFF. Good idea, y/n?

Re: Jethro: am watching Shalom. It hurts. I obviously didn't pay attention the first time I watched it because I don't remember it hurting so much, and, and. Tony! Ziva! D:

Oh god, Shalom. The reason why I started to watch again. Some things I realised once I finally watched the second half of S3: (a) Shalom mirrors 3x22, Jeopardy (where that guy dies in the elevator and Jenny is kidnappd); and (b) Hiatus Pt2 hints at Shalom in Jethro's goodbye sequence when he tells Ziva that he owes her. The more and more I think about it, the more I find Jethro's reaction to Ziva in Jeopardy to be painful, especially considering his (brutal) interaction with Ziva at the end of Hiatus Pt2 where she needs him to remember what she sacrificed for him. Ziva's anxiety is pretty much two-fold there beause not only does she need for him to remember and be okay because of Ari but she still needs him to vindicate her for what happened in 3x22, which, to my mind, sucks pretty hardcore. But then, I can't be mad at Jethro because (a) that's how he is and (b) that's part and parcel of the Ziva-Gibbs arc - how she's foreign territory to begin with, how he has to overcome his rejudice against Ari, how she sarifices for him, how he has to trust her to take Kate's place. It takes the long road, but ultimately it's satisfying because he comes back for Ziva. (Thi isn't a shippy argument - it's more of a Ziva-has-daddy-issues thing. Because she does, and Gibbs almost fulfils that role for her.)

Um. I have been thinking about this way too much.

Can I just say that having seen a S2 episode yesterday, I still find Sasha Alexander to be really fucking pretty, and I still covet her hair.

Yay, Meishanalysis! *g* I haven't seen Jeopardy (or Hiatus, for that matter) in a while so I'm just going to nod along to what you're saying here. Daddy issues? Yes, definitely. Though you'll be terribly unsurprised when I tell you I spent most of this watching of Shalom dissecting the Gibbs/Tony action and interaction. I love Tony's little talk with Ducky -- I love Ducky, and his resentment towards Jethro. There's so many undercurrents in this ep that I didn't catch the first time. (But considering I forgot about Tony hugging Gibbs, I wasn't paying any attention at all.)

Hee! I feel as if I've watched a Kate episode recently, when really, all I did was read fic with a really good Kate voice. This happens. Sometimes I'm reading long fic and I take a break in the middle and return to my PC and wonder why my video player isn't open.

Am working on the five things thing! Though, as is par for the course lately: am agonizing and not making much progress at all.

Heh. Sometimes it comes unbidden. (I blame you, you know. The only show I've really thought this much about before was Numb3rs. And now all this. Aie.) I want to write about Ziva's Daddy Issues one day. Eventually. And yes, zjetz, Ducky and how long it takes for the two of them to make up and be friends again. (The scene where it finally happens? Makes me cry with happiness and relief. True story.) re: Tony and Gibbs, lolz, not in the least bit surprised. I tell you what does surprise me: how much Jenny breaks me in her scene with Jethro re: France. S4 is when I fell for Jenny, not a moment before.

Haha. Aw, Kate, you awkwardly prudish girl. How much do I love that episode where she and Tony are UC at that clinic? "She slept with my cousin! And my best friend! AT THE SAME TIME!" (I think it's The Bone Yard. Where Fornell is fake-dead?)

(I'm happily blamed. Also, I secretly blame you.) You could do so for femgenficathon? And preface it with an excerpt from Daddy, mayhaps. (Which reminds me: Project Beatnik Bard WTF?) Sometimes I want to write about Ducky's funeral. It's very likely that I just love funerals in fiction (even if I find them awkward and unnecessary in real life). Re: Serbia, you mean? That scene breaks me, too, but not so much for Jenny as for Gibbs - how much he's really not okay yet, and how harsh he is when telling Jenny he doesn't remember (because, ?). For all his smiling, he's blunt in ways the normal Gibbs wouldn't be - like when he calls Tony 'McGee' on purpose, knowing full well how that would worry/upset him. I-- I can't entirely, but I really do hate Mexico!Gibbs, sort of. (Heh. Look at me. "I kind of hate him a little bit maybe-- BUT NO, I DON'T! GIIIBBBS!" Lolz. Dude, am I channelling Tony? Because he's totally like that in Shalom: all needy and Gibbs Gibbs Gibbs! and then hating himself for it, as he tells Ducky.) (I half-want to watch the episode again so I can pick it apart EVEN MORE. Damn you, show.)

Oh my god that scene is awesome. The outfits! Wait, I totally found a YouTube link for that earlier today. *hunt, hunt* Aha! Here.

Hee! I'm catching up on my podcasts (and annoyed that I can't make downloaded tracks show up in my music library instead of my podcasts list, sigh) - 3 daily podcasts + 5 days no iTunes = busy times.

Haha, yes! It has three things going for it: (a) it's set in the Ancient World for which I have a particular fetish; (b) Jeff Beal composed the score (Carnivale, yay); and (c) Lucius Vorenus. ! (Also: Attia who is hilarious and devious and fabulous.)

Atia is all kinds of brilliant, yes. But Servilla is just as incredible.

I'll see your Vorenus and raise you one Titus Pullo. From the first episode I knew that he was going to be my ancient world boyfriend. I also have this incredible affect for Brutus. I blame Tobias Menzies entirely.

I've only seen the first two episodes, so I'm not sure who Servilla is.

Titus Pullo, huzzah! I didn't like him so much in the pilot, but since the second episode - what a crazy, crazy giant of a man!

Servilla is the lady of the Junii. She's Brutus's mother and just as acid-tongued as Atia.

Pullo is one of my favorite characters on television. He is a crazy, crazy giant of a man, but lovable and squishy.

Ah - she's in love with Caesar, y/n? I look forward to seeing more of her.

Hee, currently I'm watching him tutor Lucius on women. These two have an odd but likable chemistry. I'm really enjoying the show.

She is in love with Caesar.

I love love love Lucius's outrage over Titus's description of "the little button" as he calls it. They are one of the finest duos I've seen on television.

I'm quite glad that you are enjoying it. When you are finished with Rome you should check out Deadwood. TV-Links has it still I believe.

Another ficathon - so much of a good idea right there (I really need some inspiration of the writing variety at this point). The interview thing, it's a really interesting idea (and I'm not the only one then who browses through my friends friends list - it's fascinating what you can find).

Huzz! Am collecting prompts, yay. I think there's minor crossover with last year's prompts but not too much.

Haha, this woman isn't even on my fflist, lol.

When I first came to fandom, I came via TWW fanfiction and there was one girl whose website linked to her journal, so I got curious and started reading, and then I read her flist. I've been doing it ever since.

Hee, I ended up watching some S1 last night. That show has good memories for me. We'd watch it and then the next day at school, spend the whole of registration talking about it. Our chemistry tutor was a big fan. He started talking to us in the middle of a test! Crazy old guy. (He liked Spike. lol.)
