There's a riff in Soul Meets Body that's most noticeable just after the line if the silence takes you / I hope it takes me too. I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS TWO-BAR PROGRESSION. In fact, I'm in love with the melody of this song. There's so much running, all this acceleration, and then a snap of air in the face when it halts. And I want to jump to it. It could be anthemic if it wasn't so blatantly indie.

If we're sharing things we love about SMB, I have to say, I love the higher pitch in "I do believe it's true". And throughout the whole bridge, there's a very faint twinkling sound scattered around, like a keyboard synth, I think.

Oh, definitely; the change in pitch is actually the first thing that made me pay attention to the track (I was studying with iTunes on shuffle). I think what makes the music so wonderful are the levels of music. You have drums, two layers of bass, two layers of melody and voice, and they change in intensity over the course of the song, being stripped bare or layered up. *musigasm*

For some bizarre reason the song I thought this was was actually Great Lake Swimmers' "Changing Colours". Huh.

...

when the wind takes you it takes me too / when you change colours I change mine too - ah. That might be why.
