Apr. 26th, 2007 01:30 pmI know this isn't entirely an entirely surprising thing but:
I love that I can buy The Iliad and get The Odyssey for free.
Why yes, we did stop by the bookstore on the way back from the supermarket.

edit: There's a lot of griping on my fflist about the cancellation of Drive. I-- it was boring. Many people found it boring. So it got cancelled. Much in the vein of The Black Donnellys which I personally have been enjoying. But. IT WAS BORING. I didn't even enjoy the pilot. And I love pilots! So.

Date: 2007-04-27 12:33 pm (UTC)Honestly, I am not surprised that "Drive" has driven off into the sunset already. The plot seemed pretty ho-hum, and a bit silly, in my opinion. (Judging by the ads and the teeny-tiny bit I actually watched during a commercial break.) The ads for "The Black Donnellys" never really appealed to me, either.
Now, "Raines" is a different story. I adore the cast, the characters and the overall feel of the show. I've heard rumors that the show may be cancelled, but nothing has been confirmed.

Date: 2007-04-27 12:38 pm (UTC)Drive was-- I didn't care. On a show that by necessity has to be character driven (the plot is pretty much the same week on week), you have to care. As for TBD, it has one of the best pilots ever: the series failed to live up to the pilot. Which. SIGH. Because the pilot was made of win.
Raines. Oh, Raines. Quirky, traditional detective story, but playful and fun. Doesn't take itself too seriously, has a neat hook. I am closing my ears to stores of cancellation, not because I'm overly fond of denial, but because they make me woeful and the show is sort of a buffer to that. So.

Date: 2007-04-30 10:01 pm (UTC)The main reason why TBD didn't appeal to me, was that I'm not that big a fan of mob or gang related media. (Of course, there are a few exceptions to that.)
Perfect description of "Raines." The series is made of ♥ and win. :)

I can understand that, they make me full of woe, as well. Let's hope that it is all just a rumor, and that NBC brings the win back next season.
