Spooks, 305
Nov. 7th, 2004 11:53 amBecause I'm adorable, I'll put this all behind a cut :o)
I wanted to do this last night just after watching the BBC3 episode but someone had turned off the computer and I couldn't be bothered to wait for the damn thing to reboot.
Anyway, omigod! It was brilliant - the focus on Danny that we've been getting is foing wonders for his character. It was such a starng episode. I was confused by the Ruth side plot and the stalker thing. I didn't understand that at all. But I loved the end when Danny was in tears; he was so fantastic. The way the scenes kept cutting and chopping and how he was sta there in the room and the world was still. Bravo!
And then Zoe trashing Will. I wonder where that'll lead to (especially in light of next week's episode -- Keeley Hawes finally departs! But she's expecting her baby so I'll forgive her, lol).
The only thing that irked me was (well, apart from Ruth's bizarre side plot) was Adam Carter (I keep wanting to type Alan Carter but that's the guy from murphy's Law) and the bit when he's trying to talk Danny into what he has to do. It annoyed me because the character has taken Tom's role so potently that he forgets how tight the initial band was. I simply adored it when Danny quoted Tom (and it was such a Tom line to say): "Killing in the name of life is one of the most stupid things I have ever heard". [Uh, sorry. The only episode I never saw was 101; Tom actually does say that line or one similar to it. But that's still cool because, hey! Continuity! Woo! Also, I never realised that Christine (that is, Little-Miss-CIA) was in S1. Heh. I should really ctach up on that episode.] I wonder what Tom would have done to help Danny? Especially as Zoe was supposed to be the one doing the killing. And would she have had less of a problem with it? Initially I thought that she would have been just as adverse to the idea as Danny but then she said that she would do it if she could (the sea sickness thing was 'appropriate' wasn't it?)
It was a good move to have Danny block her out at the end too, again, especially because of next week's story. I don't normally watch the Saturday episode, I tend to wait for Monday's but because there hasn't been any SVU, I've been flicking channels. I miss the first season; I miss how the group used to work. Yes, I'll admit it, I miss Tom's character and I'm really going to miss Zoe (I still miss Jenny Agutter's character, Tessa Phillips. I loved how she was so cool and cruel. She was the iron maiden; she didn't care). This changing group dynamic needs to feel like a new series otherwise people aren't going to have faith in it. the new characters are going to be hated because they're not the old ones. The series need revamping.
I really can't wait for next week's episode! I wonder how it'll pan out?
OK, off to do essays and essay plans. Although, you should be proud, I finally finished Othello. Only Macbeth left and then I'll have read all of the 4 main tragedies :o)
