Jessica Steen is back as Cassidy, which should be interesting considering Scottie Thompson (Jeanne Benoit) is also in the episode. Really, I'm just pleased because LT. COL. HOLLIS MANN IS COMING BACK. I love my girl/lady crush. And I'm thinking the episode seems to be themed.

Zjetz. I love this show.

Some random trivia, actually: Scottie Thompson's birth name is Susan Scott Thompson (that she calls herself Scottie and gets away with it seems vaguely awesome to me). And Hollis Mann is played by the Borg Queen herself: Susanna Thompson (VERY awesome). SAME NAME, LOLZ. It's obviously fandom heaven. The only thing that would make this episode even better is if Muse Watson was there too. Then I'd probably give up now and just die already.

ZOMG indeed! I love what I've seen of Cassidy, although obviously I'm missing some frame of reference 'cause I've only seen one of her episodes. It took me several episodes to figure out what Jeanne Benoit's name actually was, because wow, way to butcher French pronunciation there, Weatherly. Also I kept getting confused when Col. Man had her hair down because I did not recognize her, lolz.

Muse Watson scares the living hell out of me. (He YELLS. Without warning. Also I'm not sure, but he might be the guy who plays the staple fed/secret service dude/cop with moustache in basically every show ever?)

... saying that, I remember that Mark Harmond is CJ's secret service boyfriend, which, omg. Must rewatch, because there's nothing better than actor crossovers turned confusing.)

(I actually typed "social service" there several times, and couldn't figure out what was wrong with that, and tried to change it to "social security". Too much wine, obv. Way too much.)

She's in S1 quite a bit. I am forever surprised when I see her because I always think "Weir the First!" And yeah, I didn't know what Benoit's name was for forever. (Col. Mann = ftw. No one in this fandom will change my position on this.)

I LOVE MUSE WATSON. I know he first showed up at the end of S3 but I saw him in the S4 opener and have been all 'wheeee' ever since. He's also a crazy good actor because he turned up in S1 of Prison Break as this sweetheart of a soft-hearted old bloke with a cat and I honestly don't connect that character with Mike Franks. (I love the random yelling, hee! So.)

(YES. YES HE IS. Which-- Mark Harmon and Allison Janney = love. And he's married to Pam Dawber of Mork and Mindy fame which makes me smile no end, too.)

(I do that when I'm sober. Also: I always type cylons as cyclons.)

Random: I was so disappointed when it turned out that I wasn't the biggest fan of Dinozzo's because I had the biggest geekcrush on his Dark Angel character. Now that guy had angst. And sexy glasses.)

(Way to misspell just about everyone's name there, self. Good job. Wine has mostly worn off - mostly thanks to being caught in the crossfire of the parents shouting at each other for TOTALLY MUNDANE REASONS. I really don't like shouting, have I mentioned that? Loud noises of any kind, actually. But I digress.)

I love Col. Mann. I have a general fondness of the way Gibbs is around women, but beyond that, I'm still not sure what to make of his character. I spent most of Jessica Steen (if that's her name?)'s stint on SG-1 confused because she was so totally not Weir, to me. And I didn't recognise her as being not!Weir when she showed up on NCIS, so .... I don't even know where I'm going with this. *scatterbrained*

DiNozzo is an ass, and I can't explain why I like him. I keep wanting to compare the way I'm drawn to him as a character to the way I was drawn to Danny Meser once upon a time, but then that comparison doesn't make any sense, and also, I don't want to think about Danny Messer because it makes me angry. Still.
Glasses! I loved him in his Under Covers glasses. That entire episode is win, in fact. DiNozzo and Ziva should be having lots of uncomplicated sex. (Although if canon is planning on taking them down the Real! Relationship!, Meaningful! Spiritual! Connection! route, I think I may cry.)

(I'm very het when it comes to this show, surprisingly. Abby/McGee! Palmer/Lee! And I kind of like Tony's 'ONOEZ RELATIONSHIP!' storyline, even if it as subtle as a brick to the head.)
(Which is not to say I'm not totally into Gibbs/DiNozzo from a point of view where Tony is, you know, desperately and hopelessly in love with Gibbs. Which is what I'm referring to when I mention making up angst for DiNozzo.) (Though this is practically canon, at least in a platonic sense.)
(Oh! Also: Ziva/Jenny. Okay. I'm all over the place, verily. Except Gibbs/Abby because that's just wrong, and sick, and wrong.)

Yes, okay, ranty. This show gets me talking, what can I say?

(I forgive you. My house is actually fairly quiet right now which is weird and new and I don't think I like it? I don't know. Having the littl'un around helps a ton.)

I have a general fondness of the way Gibbs is around women, but beyond that, I'm still not sure what to make of his character.
To the first part: d'aw, yes. To the rest: I have the world's most incomprehensible crush on this guy. On Harmon, too, in fact. The kind of crush that I have not had in a very long time. And I sort of hate myself for it because it's huge and unrelenting, but I also sort of pity myself in this weird out-of-body way because he is so *hand motions* and yeah. It's embarassing, really. Also: he's older than my father. Oh man.

(Replying in a non-linear fashion; I apologise in advance.)

To the rest: I have the world's most incomprehensible crush on this guy. On Harmon, too, in fact.
Hee! I can understand that, even if I don't share it.

this is actually fiarly typical of me because I gravitate towards older men
I... really don't. Of course I mostly gravitate towards women, but that's a whole 'nother subject altogether.

(Harmon is five years younger than my father, too.)

(Still haven't met Kate beyond Kill Ari, but I agree with what you said about Jenny. The stupid Paris flashback sequences are bugsome, too. Palmer is cringeworthy as a character, but I love the Palmer/Lee arch so much. Chip makes more sense if you've seen the end of Frame-Up, but still, yeah. I could've done without him. But I am so in love with this cast of characters, too. I love Fornell and the thing where he and Gibbs pretend to hate each other, heh. Although, again, missing a chunk of context there.)

Gah, but see, now that I'm rewatching the older episodes with the knowledge of S4, I'm totally more sysmpathetic to him?
Well, you know, fuzzy memories of when [livejournal.com profile] powerof3 tried to get me to watch season one aside, I started with season 4. Which, as I've said before, is probably the main reason I can stand DiNozzo. (Again I reference Singled Out and the "I'm worried about Jethro" Jenny/DiNozzo conversation which I love beyond words. Even if it bothers me that I can't tell if DiNozzo means it when he says he's staying for Gibbs, or that he's lying because he really is staying for Jeanne.)

I don't think the Benoit thing is supposed to be anywhere near subtle?
I'm muy suspicious of that relationship and the crazy amount of screentime it's getting, but I won't spoil or otherwise bother you with my speculation on the subject.

I don't fic this show at all - don't read it, don't write it.
I've been reading, and it's really not worth it. They're all getting it so wrong.

I have a sore reaction to Gibbs/Dinozzo because of the importance of their canon relationship
Hmm. You have a point. I still love Tony's mancrush, though, because he's so overwhelmingly in awe of and loyal to Gibbs, to the point where people have to remind him Gibbs is not infallible. (There's that whole thing about looking for approval and daddy issues, but let's not get into it.) I really liked that s4 episode wherein Tony himself draws the Gibbs is to me what Franks is to Gibbs comparison, because it's so true. Their on-screen relationship is much more interesting than anything the fandom's been able to come up with.

I ship in a vague, off-hand way that is very, "I do not object to this pairing".
*nods* Aside from the fact that McGee and Abby should marry and make babies, I'm the same. Speaking of McGee, I love the idea of him and Temperance Brennan meeting as a result of the fact that they're both best-selling crime novelists.

Jenny/Ziva totally happened when Ziva was driving Jenny across Europe, people will not convince me otherwise.
I'm still not sure whether the writers were slyly trying to establish Ziva as bisexual in early s3, or whether that was wishful thinking on my part.

Harm's Lady Lawyer from the JAG/NCIS pilot crossover thing totally turns up again and is completely awesome and I love her.
She does? That's awesome, because she's gorgeous and I was totally crushing.

(Oh, non-lineate (suffix?!) away.)

Of course I mostly gravitate towards women, but that's a whole 'nother subject altogether.
I think the subject of sexuality is so bloody difficult to pinpoint and so very not, that I rarely talk about it past the other thing I just said.

(Kate is... I'll let you see. I adore her in this totally futzy way, but I get irritated by the extremities of her character. And the writers were a bit weird with her too. But! I'll let you see. Because Kill Ari has bullshit all to do with what her character was actually like.)

(I haaaate the Paris flashbacks. I'm working my way through Frame-Up [always takes me forever. I cringe easily and my reflex is to pause and do something else whilst my muscles try to relax] and liking the bits I hated this time last year. Funny: I was looking at the entry I made today last year and it was about the 'end' of my love affair with NCIS. I'm so fickle.)

(From where Fornell comes from (in the actual pilot) to where he gets to in S4, I love that complete arc. And I love Gibbs' elevator. And *flaily hand motions* just because. BECAUSE. I've lucked out with his character recently, because I saw 4x02 and then he was in the S2 repeat I saw at the weekend, and he's in Frame-Up so yay.)

From JAG history, Bellisario has a habit with relationships to do things...I can't even articulate it because I haven't seen enough of JAG to be certain. I'm less worried, though, re: Benoit. And I think she has really pretty eyes, so.

I lied: I read fic for S1. And it was lame but it made me warm and happy. I'm not linking it to you, though, at least not yet. *coy*

Oh, no, I'm all there with the platonic nature of Dinozzo's mancrush (because I don't see any reason why that should manifest into something explicitly homoerotic). It's sort of tragic, the parallels between them, how far they exist anyway and how far Dinozzo pushes them. And how much Jethro (!!! LOVE his name. I can't even explain it) respects him and encourages him, but then doesn't? [I have this theory whereby even though he was all 'If Dinozzo is ready...' he understood why the guy stayed and what that meant, and he was pleased about it because he was sort of maybe projecting? It's a relationship that runs both ways (and I just realised that you haven't seen SWAK yet and now I'm excited for when you do).] Although the scene where Tony's all WOULD YOU DO THIS TO FRANKS? killed me so dead.

Brennan would eat McGee for breakfast. And Abby/McGee is so-- aw. Again: I really cannot wait for you to get through the earlier episodes.

I'm still not sure whether the writers were slyly trying to establish Ziva as bisexual in early s3, or whether that was wishful thinking on my part.
I just want her to speak more Hebrew. And get more sympathetic screentime with Jenny.

Jenny: the character I loath to love. Because sometimes she's my least favourable character and sometimes I wonder why she isn't awesome all the time?!

That woman is gorgeous, not to mention wonderfully OCD.
