So, Vertigo. Is this the next one that will be enforced on us? What is with all the sidebar-ing? Are people so lazy that they can't use a goddamn drop menu?

I keep making an ass out of myself in On Reading - not explicitly so but enough for me to be disgruntled with the tutor (because when I'm being an idiot, I have to blame other people, apparently). There are two reasons, really. One is a person, the other is me. But I really need to get over that. And I need to stop lending N my books because (a) hell, I paid for the damn things and (b) she didn't bring it to class yesterday.

However, Children's lit. is going much better. There were only 4 of us at the second Uncle Tom's Cabin class, and we've banded together for the Week 10 (well, week 11 for us) class presentations. Since we're reading Northern Lights for the course, we've decided to read and look at The Subtle Knife for the class. This is awesome because it then gives me incentive to re-read The Amber Spyglass which I already own. You know how people anticipate the Harry Potter novels? Well, we read Northern Lights and The Subtle Knife in quick succession and then we had to wait for The Amber Spyglass. The Mother bought it for me for Christmas - I read it within two days. I love this series. The style of the first book is definitely children's literature, but the third book its crossover fiction with a relish: there are themes and tropes that kids just aren't going to understand; I knew this when I was reading it, and I saw flaws in it when I read it the first time, but I also understood that I wasn't quit getting all of it. So now I'm re-reading, and it's awesome.

I have a Research Skills lecture on modes of research at 1pm today. Blah blah blah. At least I don't have group work to do anymore, although I do still have to worry about what the hell I want to write my dissertation on.

I finished my slap-dash rewatching of S1 Spooks yesterday. The first series was so intellectually hilarious. By the I mean, episodes 5 and 6 had gravitas, but they were also so funny. I remember watching episode 5 whilst my family filtered in and out of the room and just giggling and giggling at Jools Sivitar. Episode 6, too, has that fabulous scee where Tom goes to see the DG and he's having a doctor's appointment. Tom practically runs from the room.

I might start season 2 today, or watch more Six Feet Under. We'll see.

edit: I was trying to sign off an email to my tutor - trying is the operative word because every time I went to type my name, my fingers automatically typed "Meisha". I had to watch my fingers and make sure I actually wrote my name, wtf.

This post is making me want to give Northern Lights another try. And also watch Spooks series one again, because I'd forgotten that particular moment.

I loved the first two seasons of Six Feet Under. I watched devotedly the rest of them, but those first two will always be the best of the show.

David ♥ Keith 4Evah.

I hated my Research Skills/Methods class. It's huge and important in Sociology but it is still a pain in my ass. Good luck, hon.

FYI: [livejournal.com profile] amaresu called me yesterday to tell me that Erica the Duck made it to Minnesota.

And yes, people are really goddamn lazy.
