Gross stuff out of the way first. I have one hell of a blister on my foot - specifically on the heel of my foot - which has burst and hurts like a bitch. Thing is, I'm having a hard time putting any kind of even weight on it because it hurts so much, and I have no way of covering it - not with a plaster, not with padding. My stretch jeans just came out of the dryer last night, so I can probably wear flats today, but that doesn't really solve my problem. What would likely solve my problem are new socks. I only own two pairs - both are thick set for winter. When I wear them with my boots, I get blisters on my toes, which, whatever, except they were particularly bad and it's been warmer so I wore pop socks and my feet were much less restrained in the boots. Except the heel is dead, and now I have a burst blister on my heel. A huge one. Fuck. I'll figure something out. I'd better because I have to go to main campus and back after my two classes, so that I can get a train ticket home.

Yes: two classes today. Children's lit is on the second half of Uncle Tom's Cabin. ot my essay back for that one. Apparently, doing things in advance helps my grades. Who knew?! We'll wait for the On Reading results before we judge that conclusively but yeah, my children's lit. assignment was good. Am pleased. Now I just need to average that.
Need to read two chapters of Northern Lights and then I'm going to watch Bones and possibly more Six Feet Under. Huzzah.

As per always, having my pre-return freak out. It's not the going home that bothers me so much as the going home. I hate travelling. It's damn stressful.

Date: 2007-03-15 11:24 pm (UTC)The problem is that the blister is on the heel of my foot so eventually I just have to put my weight on it, which is naturally uncomfortable. Whatever. I've had other blisters before, and I know how to deal with them. S'painful, is all!

Date: 2007-03-15 11:45 pm (UTC)Yeah, I understand. If you go to your drug store, they will have fancy bandages that help with blisters. One time when I had a blister on my heel, I wrapped my heel and ankle with one of those wrap bandages, sort of like guaze, but reusable. There ended up being so much padding on my heel, that it was very comfortable to walk around. Here's an image of what they are, in case you don't know what I'm talking about. Go to your drugstore! They would have them.

Date: 2007-03-15 11:51 pm (UTC)I have many pairs. Foamy flip-flops are actually the worst kind of support for your feet - also, they soak up a lot of sweat, which is all manner of disgusting. I have faux-leather ones, ones with padding, soft-wood ones...the ones that I'm wearing right now have material swen on. No, for padding I've been rolling up a headband and stuffing it in my shoe, so it's all good. As for the plasters - yeah, I know. I thought about it, too, but I just want the damn thing to heal now, and the best way to deal with that is to walk on it. It would be less of an issue if the blister was on my toe where they usually turn up, but like I said - on my heel. And the weight distribution is odd because I'm flatfooted. But it will heal, so whatever.

Date: 2007-03-16 12:02 am (UTC)Ew, I didn't know that about foamy ones. I bought a pair of suede ones once, and I ended up wearing them for suuuch a long time. I'd still wear them now, but they are flattening out. So incredibly comfortable. :)
Alright, well I'm glad you are comfortable now. Blisters heal by walking on them? I've never heard that before. Thanks for telling me! I really know how you feel with being flat-footed. Ever since my arches collapsed, blisters have been rough to deal with, and it's so much more comfortable for me to wear high heels! The problem with the "Ace" bandages is that when I walk a lot, my feet will get sweaty because they are covered. Then again, if it keeps my heel comfortable, then life is good. :)

Date: 2007-03-16 12:08 am (UTC)Suede ones are awesome. I also have a pair which have...the padding is different. But I killed those so they need replacing.
High heels are murder for me, actually, because my weight falls forwards forcing my toes into the point? I much prefer flats. I don't get blisters that often because I know how to wear champal and they don't rub. I only have this one because the heel of my boot has worn away at an angle, so there's even more pressure heading down towards my toes and to compensate I put weight on the heel of my foot...hence the blister. Also, the pop socks meant that my foot was sliding in the boot more than usual (because with the woollen socks, there's less movement.)
I can't believe I'm still yammering on about this. I should upload my icons.

Date: 2007-03-16 12:16 am (UTC)Awww. I'd kill for another pair of suede ones, actually. I'm going to call them champal now, thanks to you. That's such a cooler name than flip flops!
Ooh, that's good. I've never gotten blisters from champal, but I'd love to know how or why people end up getting them. Since I've never had them, I find it a bit odd, actually. Then again, the only ones I've ended up wearing are my suede ones. I found a pink pair that I'd really like, but they are rubber. Havaianas, I hear, are very comfortable. I know what it's like with the boots, actually. If I wear the wrong pair of socks with my boots, I get blisters, yes, at the heel. Oh, feet.
Haha. Upload icons? You mean the 230 plus that I will end up taking for Numb3rs? Oy, you must. God, 230. :D I better throw away stuff on my computer. YOU, my friend, are the death of my harddrive. You already knew that though. I only have about 1 and a half gigabytes left of room! Your 230 icons better be horrible. :P
