I have been following this story for a couple of years now and I still get desperately sad every time the news mentions her.

Must! Read! Tried to do researchyesterday for the children's lit. essay but the articles I found turned out to be useless. May have to ensconce myself in the Avenue library and find that damn quarto (instead of getting lost in the stacks at Hartley. Yes, I do this frequently). But I almos have a plan, so hurrah!

Uncle Tom's Cabin made me cry yesterday which is why I didn't get around to doing the rest of my reading. Heh. Also, later today is the research skills lecture from which I'm hoping to return quickly. Need to get my hind into gear and stop faffing.

Thank you to the people who left me comment-drabble prompts. Getting to those asap. [livejournal.com profile] twincy, I will reply to the Rodney-anapaestic email, too. I'm fairly certain you will anyway, but poke me if I delay. AND I NEED TO MAIL YOU THAT BOOK DAMMIT. Colour me a dunce.

OK. Work now. Soundage later.

I'm glad Princess Masako's improving. But I have to admit I was kind of hoping for Empress Aiko myself. That whole story still chokes me extremely, and has since 1993, but I am aware that putting my own judgements onto a culture I don't really understand may not result in accurate assessments.

Well, you're not the only one who was. And speaking as someone who comes from a similar culture, it's upsetting to me, too.
