The latest offering from Danny Boyle (28 Days Later, Trainspotting) is Sunshine and features MICHELLE YEOH, HELL YES. (Also: Cillian Murphy, Rose Byrne, Chris Evans and people that I did not recognise.) Colour me excited. (She was supposed to be in Jet Li's Fearless and then wasn't, so the last film I saw her in was Memoris of a Geisha which came out about a year ago. So when it comes to a new film, I'm all, IT'S ABOUT TIME.)

HURRAH, because Joseph Gordon-Levitt also has a new flick out: The Lookout. As per always, the trailer looks fabulous. I &hearts JGL and his unending ability to play so many different characters that if you lined them all up, they'd all look like strangers. Amazing guy.

The intelligent crime drama is centered around Chris (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Mysterious Skin), a once promising high school athlete whose life is turned upside down following a tragic accident. As he tries to maintain a normal life, he takes a job as a janitor at a bank where he ultimately finds himself caught up in a planned heist.

Bonus? MATTHEW GOODE. In an actual, serious role, kicking some actual, serious ass. &hearts

Reign Over Me, a film with Don Cheadle and...Adam Sandler WHAT? But the trailer looks like your usual heart-warming affair of the grass is greener. It's won me over at least. I'm definitely interested, and more than that I'm surprised by this instance of Sandler possibly being able to act, what?

Seraphim Falls is a post-US Civil War drama where Liam Neeson is hunting down Pierce Brosnan of all people because the latter torched the former's home and family. It occurred to me whilst watching this trailer that I'm not certain that the two actors can pull off the roles, and furthermore, Jude Law should never ever have been in Cold Mountain. That said, I'm game for anythet in this landscape and during this period so. Yeah.

The Dead Girl looks like my kind of movie: mystery plot, multiple perspectives, fucked up chronology. Bonus: Rose Byrne (who apparently is EVERYWHERE these days) and Toni Collette, woo! Brittany Murphy is your eve-ready fuck-up and she seems to be revelling in that role all over again. (This gives me the yen to watch Girl, Interrupted today. Hmm. Maybe.) Anyway, definitely one that I will be going to see.

Every time I see the trailer for Breaking & Entering, two things happen. Firstly, the prerequisite OMG! reaction for Juliette Binoche whom I adore in everything. Secondly, the prerequisite WTF, People Are Still Employing Him? reaction for Jude Law who I have yet to see actually ACT. EVER. I have never seen him in anything where he is even vaguely convincing. And frankly, he's not even that pretty. (At first Law seems plausible in the role and then the whole thing falls to pot, so who knows?) That said, the film looks like it may indeed be worth the watch, so I'll probably get around to seeing it one day.

Anthony LaPaglia and the fabulous, massively underrated VIOLA DAVIS (not to mention ISABELLA ROSSELLINI, THANK YOU) star opposite one another in The Architect where the former is an architect (heh) with money and a job and what have you, and the latter is fighting the street drug war. It sounds like your usual rich-meets-poor, rich-is-reformed story, but it looks watchable.

Foreign films are my guilty pleasure and whilst I've seen plenty in Spanish and French, I haven't seen so many in German. The Lives Of Others is set in WWII Germany and is basically a spy drama and romance thriller tied up in one. It looks really, really good and I'm impressed by the range of casting and the implied plot. Check it out.

Of course, no film post would be complete without the requisite Thandie mentions: Pursuit of Happyness and Norbit. Also, Run, Fat Boy, Run which, well. Heh.

eta: Speaking of Norbit, there are new stills and clips, yay! Thandie is looking lovely, as ever. It's nice to see her in a fun role.

I warn you now, Mysterious Skin is faintly disturbing. But it's also a painfully beautiful film. I love it. And if you fall for JGL, I can't say this enough times: WATCH BRICK. Seriously. It is my favourite film.

Aw, you've seen it? Lucky. I haven't had the chance of yet. I'm taking The Sister out on Friday so I'm going to see if I can't twist her arm and persuade her to see that one. I can't wait *g*

I can't wait to see Seraphim Falls - the only downside is that Liam and Pierce won't have their lovely Irish accents on show!
