I was so good today. I walked to campus and bought my train tickets to see [livejournal.com profile] wishes_of_stone in Hudds. and [livejournal.com profile] xanitia in Newc. and then I went to Avenue where I printed out my timetable for semester 2 and my essay questions for Af. lit. Went to the Avenue library, watched Bringing Up Baby and took notes. Then I went to the cubicles and did research for Af. Lit until just after 4pm. Woo! Now I'm going to write up some lecture notes and make an essay schedule for the weekend so that I get all this work done on time.

Let me complain about one thing though: my backpack has lost its waterproof-ability! My notes keep getting wet. You have no idea how much this frustrates me. So far the damage has only been to make my paper bendy and crinkly, and hasn't effected any of my written notes but still! Annoying! So from now on I'm packing my stuff in a plastic Lakeland bag and putting that in the backpack instead.

TW had a crying fit this morning, so god only knows what the crap is going on there. We're over this morning's scuffle because (a) I can't be bothered and (b) she keeps throwing empty apologies in my direction. I've also been informed that the house is suffering a 'Face Curse' because so many people have been injured or something. The Flatmate was so drunk the night of her birthday that she passed out in the hallway, breaking a glass that she was holding (no-one was injured by glass, thankfully) and then she woke up next to the radiator in her room with her face grazed. YEAH. T's got three temporary fake teeth to replace the ones she knocked out of her mouth, TW apparently had an allergic reaction to something and K went to the doctor over some sort of bruising. Which leaves me and N, apparently, although my skin is such a tragedy that it only really leaves N. Hmm.

Dear Tracy Chapman,
You make me want to seek out god. I don't really understand why, but that's my reaction to your music. Make of that what you will. Just keep singing. And I'll listen to this song again
love, M x

My keyboard keys are still sticking so if I post a comment with a disproportionate number of typos in it, that's why. (Disproportionate to my grammatical talents, bien sur.)

Most decent shoe shops sell spray cans of waterproofing spray - tis very handy; I use it on shoes & coats and stuff, but I'm sure it works on backpacks as well?

Also I'm not entirely sure you can use 'bien sur' in that context. I'm not entirely sure you can't, either, so let me just shut up right here.

*cuddles* Don't get your face hurt! Also, I have a rather amusing newspaper clipping to show you, but I need to scan it first. So, later tonight, if I can claim the scanner.

I...have never heard of this ingenious invention. Will have to keep an eye out for it. (The bag has waterproof lining that's woked for years. Maybe I should just buy a new bag? But I love mine! Aie.)

Hee, thank you; I'll try. Really hard. And now you have my full interest! You know I'll be around *g*

.... now I'm worried it's a Dutch thing. ! Some googling proves it isn't. If you can't find it in shoe shops, try outdoors/camping-related shops?

*nod* it just seems off using it as a tag-on sentence the way English does: [statement], of course. *shrug*

The clipping:

The caption says: Artist Florentijn Hofman yesterday launched a 16 ft rubber duck in the pond near the Dutch Architectural Institude in Rotterdam. The duck is a prototype for a 65 ft specimen designed for the Biƫnnale Estuaire, which is set to take place in, among others, the French cities of Nantes and Saint-Nazaire.
(rough translation, obv.)

This is from a free Dutch newspaper that was lying on the seat across from me on the train back from D. past Tuesday. It reminded me of you for obvious reasons. ;)
