Criminal Minds fans really need to see this picture, if only for Thoman Gibson's HILARIOUSLY STRAIGHT-BACKED face. It's almost too awesome.

In other news, I have class from 1-4 today, both of which I couldnot give less of a damn about, as always. Also, I think the plumber (who was supposed to be here FOUR WEEKS AGO), has just turned up and wants access to all of the rooms. Well, we hav two exta people in the house, and two people aren't here - their rooms are locked. I really don't know what he expects us to do if he doesn't call in fucking advance. Or if he turns up on a whim as opposed to WHEN HE WAS CALLED.

eta: OK, no, he's coming tomorrow around 11am. Still. This means we have to call the landlord for keys to The Flatmate and TW's rooms.

Look, Gibson, I know you know how to smile, because you were ON DHARMA AND GREG DAMNIT. So make an effort? When everyone else is being happy & frolicky?

(+ lol Paget Brewster accepting an award when she's been in all of two episodes.)

Also: boo Mandy Patinkin for not being there.

(Well, if she was the SUPERSMARTS *and* the pretty on the show, she would've been completely insufferable. So it's probably for the best.)

PS. Baby Jesus = wonderful. Is there a recorded version of it, or only the live one?

AND REID. !!!

(I don't know. I don't have a thing against attractive, intelligent women. I wouldn't want her to hold the Answer to Every Case because then she'd be Mary Sueish, but smart & pretty is a combination I can go for. See: Tosh, Cristina, Sara Sidle, Stella Bonasera.)

I KNOW! &hearts. Not that I know of, I'm afraid. I've been looking but to no avail.

OK. Class now. Chatty later.

I hadn't even noticed Reid's absence. Oops?

(I can definitely go for smart and pretty in the Stella, Tosh, Cristina way, because those women all have an edge. But (and I keep coming back to this) the way they portrayed Lindsay in early s2 of CSI:NY is a textbook example of how not to introduce a new character. CM!New Girl (whose name eludes me at the moment) has the potential to be annoyingly and seemingly impossibly smart and capable, and if on top of that the male parts of the team would be falling at her feet, I'd be annoyed. Luckily, CM isn't big on the inter-team romances. A v.g. thing, if you ask me.)

Heh.

(OK, I take issue with a couple of things there - in the nicest of ways, srsly, because me = wimp - but firstly, I don't see why a smart/pretty woman has to also have balls, secondly, the new girl does have balls and thirdly, Tosh really doesn't fit the 'has an edge' characterisation, unless I'm misreading what you mean by that. So far the new girl - who I'm still undecided on, re: like/hate - has been portrayed pretty much the way Glaudini's character was [I never remember the name 'Elle' - she was not an Elle-looking girl, was Lola] although with that added unfortune of having to prove herself.

As for Lindsay Munroe, the issue there, imo, is that stupid scene with Mac and Stella at the end of that one episode when they're all "She'll fit in well" which was totaly BS because it was so much more tell than show. Show us she can fit in, don't tell us and expect us to believe it. Since then, though, her character has been much more likeable, and I actually think she has a lot of chemistry with Carmine. I'm not a fan of the pairing, but I think it's been fairly well written. You only have to compare it with Torchwood to see that.

Or maybe I care less when characters come and go; maybe I've watched too much L&O which basically has a revolving door of actors.)

(I'm not saying pretty smart girls need to have balls, I'm just saying that I'm more likely to be drawn to, and much less likely to be annoyed by, female characters who are on some level a little snarky, a little distant, and a lot independent. There's nothing that puts me off a character (of either gender) more quickly than dependency, weepiness, and a general lack of taking things into their own hands. Which is not to say those characters are bad in any way, just that - save for some exceptions - I don't like them. (For one, I cannot stand Ianto right now.)

I have some issues with weak (female) characters that I'm sure relate to some RL issues in ways I don't want to know - and some issues with TV writers' general incapability to come up with interesting, non-standard female characters instead of repeating the same thing over and over again (and this includes independent ballsy women), and generally? I'm just very difficult when it comes to female characters, and I've had especially bad experiences with new ones added to an already existing cast.

Lindsay certainly has grown, but for me, she never stopped being the boring little know-it-all from early s2 who tried desperately to get Mac and Danny to like her. But I still carry a lot of anger over CSI:NY, so we best not go there.

Re: New Girl: yes, she does have balls. I'm not entirely sure what my point was anymore (boo me for leaving this comment thread for about a week), but New Girl is doing pretty well. The fluent Arabic was on the edge in terms of overcapable!Mary Sue, but since it has a decent explanation (diplomat parents), it doesn't grate as much. I just hope this is the end of it, and she won't end up being quadlingual and knowing three different kinds of martial arts.

I think they basically castrated Tosh with the whole Owen storyline. The way they're approaching it, anyway. She was ballsy in the first few eps- or rather, showed potential for being so. I am ever so disgruntled with the direction they're taking the character in.

I'm ... probably not making a lot of sense.

It's like he's concentrating on remembering what a smile is. No matter because Kirsten Vangsness is the most awesome person ever.

And I want to say that you are amazing just because. I hope everything is well for you. <3

KV = MADE OF AWESOME. The photo is totally cute.

Aw, thank you :) Your random joy sadhana made me smile lots. I hope you're well, too. Maybe it's LJ playing a funk with my flist, or maybe you're busy, but I haven't seen many posts from you recetly. *hgs*

Alternatively, you could be posting like a Sane Person, and I could be posting like an addict, thus making my perspective somewhat skewed *G*

She is so wonderful. I want to take her home every time she comes on the screen.

I just post whenever I write something lately. I don't know why I don't do anything personal on my journal anymore. :shrugs: I chalk it all up to being a Boring Person and not at all like a Sane Person.

:hugs:
