I am really sick and fucking tired of comms with generic names that are het/slash only, and moreso than in any other fandom, I'm sick of seeing them in the Numb3rs fandom. Like my het persuasions aren't up to standard. (Or, in other fandoms, my slash persuasion.)

I'm having a fantastically shitty day.

I agree with you one hundred percent. I like both het and slash and it shouldn't be either or for a generically named challenge.

I ca understand if the damn thing is called the don/coop pornathon because that's obviously for a niche. But the Numb3rs ficathon, for example, is slash only. As is this Christmas, New Year whatever it is.

Thankfully I don't have that problem because I'm so not in that fandom. BUT I DO ACTUALLY CONCUR, whatever the tiny font says, because IT'S ANNOYING.

My specific gripe, though, is when a comm is GENERICALLY NAMED and is het only, or slash only. Like, okay, the swficathon is OBVIOUSLY Shep/Weir based, but if the comm is called Atlantis ficathon and it's, like, slash only? FUCK OFF. Because what right does anyone have to decide that Atlantis fanfic shouldn't include het fic?

Neither am I, partially because of this and partially because the fandom is full of nutjobs. From what I've seen of the Bones fandom, though, they're outright hostile to slashers, to the point where people posting slash in 206_bones often start their post with "This will probably get me flamed, but..." which is a Very Bad Thing.

I think the comm problem? Relates directly to narrow-minded people with control issues running communities. If the moderator doesn't like slash (or het) and can't bring themself to be open-minded enough to tolerate people who do, they should not be running comms. Or they should specifically make it "atlantis_het_battle", or something. Which is a terrible name, but there you go.

PS. Maps = awesome. And I don't even like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs that much.

Fucking homophobes. That makes me really mad. I mean, okay, I get it if it's difficult to find slash within a fandom (because then it's not fandom banning you, it's just fandom making shit difficult) but BEING HOSTILE OVER HOMOSEXUALITY IS NOT. FUCKING. ON. Not even a little bit. I don't care if you don't like reading slash, I don't care if you don't agree with homosexuality, but if you start acting on those prejudices, then I have a problem with you and that problem is your entire existence. Fuck.

And a Generically named Bones comm SHOULD NOT BE ANTI-SLASH. Bones_het is for that shit.

No, there was like, this post asking if there was any slash anywhere, and people replied going "oh, goodness no. I'm so glad this fandom is slash-free." And it just ... the mind, she boggles.

My biggest problem with the fandom, though, is that there is NO Zack/Hodgins to be found WHATSOEVER. WTF, people? They were dripping subtext all over the place last season, and the little slash there is is Hodgins/BOOTH?!

Well, that person needs to fuck off already. I get being tired of sash portions of fandom, in the way I gt it if you're tired of the het portions. BUT THAT IS MANY KINDS OF DUMB.

I understand why there's Hodgins/Booth, but I really read that as a bizarrely distanced friendship, just because of how it's played. (They do have a startling amount in common, but that's called PARALLELISM, people.)
