I feel like I should apologise for not having posted the last couple of days but then I realised that normal people don't have an active compulsion to update at least once a day, and that sporadic posting is not exactly out of the norm. Whatever.

Last night I cooked fajitas for the housemates, a feat which in itself was an accomplishment because that's possibly the second time I've cooked, ever? To get to that point I called The Mother (twice), traipsed through Portswood looking for open stores (that journey took The Flatmate and me an hour and a half because we went all the way down one way and had to come back all the way to bloody Swaythling), got a blister (or five), was attacked by PEANUTS (by some chav in the bus that sped past us) and BROKE MY FLIP FLOP. That's right, my wear-everywhere, all-day, through-the-house comfy flip flops have gone to the big shoe store in the sky. Normally I bring two pairs of champal with me when I go somewhere but for some reason, this year I thought it prudent to leave the second pair at home, wtf. It's a good thing I'm going to London next weekend; I can buy another sturdy pair there. (But these were so comfortable! Sigh.) Now I have to wear my flats around the house, damnit.

Nothing happened on Saturday, or the rest of Sunday, other than I finished The Story of an African Farm (which was wonderful), decided to leave Nightwood to this week (so I'm behind on my reading), and I watched BSG (!) and Numb3rs (!) Oh, and the first four episodes of Weeds, S1 with two of the housemates. (TW and K were out this weekend, N was working, so T, The Flatmate and I decided at midnight on Saturday that it would be awesome if we socialised.)

Friday! Friday I had two seminars, both of which were lacklustre, which is a damn shame. I don't have a Mod. seminar this week because (a) I'll be on a train to London and (b) the tutor isn't going to be there anyway. I've swapped my Af. Lit. seminar to the thursday but now I'm wondering why I did that. Friday night A & K left for their weekend away (it involved Thorpe Park, I believe, as well as a Halloween fest called The Asylum that may have damaged A forever), and A's friend D came over randomly. The rest of us decided to go to the pub and play pool so we watched Thank You For Smoking (!!!) and then headed out. Of course, I forgot to take my card with me so I had to traipse back for it. I skipped one game so that D could play, and then I played a game. I... actually did not suck! Good times.

Thursday morning was my Film Lecture which, once it actually started, was damn good. I'm going to like that course. This week's screening is (omg!) Casablanca.

Today, the plan is to read, read, read (Nightwood, A Grain of Wheat, Ezra Pound and ULYSSES!!!), but also to go out to the last of the stores we visited last night and ask if they have any vacancies. The guy who served us last night is in my Af. Lit. course and he said he's quitting soon so they'll need someone to cover Saturday and Sunday nights which would be just perfect, really. Anyway, after that, more reading and writing up of lecture notes and then tonight, The Flatmate and I are going to see Buddy, the musical about, well, Buddy Holly, duh. I'm excited. I don't even care what we're going to see, I just love the whole theatre experience. Later in the year, we're going to see Chicago - on stage! *dies*

OK. Other than that, I've been a moody bratlet, so hopefully that will change. Comments all round, soon.

edit: Also rediscovered this song this weekend. LOVE.

Take care of yourself,

Hope you're well, darling *hugs*

Aw, yeah, I'd hidden away the last couple of pieces for an emergency. And thank bells I did!

Do you have a chocolate preference? Or does anything go? Also, I was thinking of setting up a chocolate exchange on my flist for the christmas/hannukah/&c. holidays. Good idea?

I want to say no, cos seriously, who doesn't love all chocolate! But actually, I don't much like dark chocolate, nor do I like creme chocolate ~ like when you get a box of chocs there are always a couple with strawberry/orange centres? Yuck. But I'm known for my love of peanut MnM's! Also bought myself a bar of tha Divine FairTrade chocolate today cos it's yummy :)

How do you mean?

Ha! I'm not a fan of cremes either. (Well except for After Eights, I guess).

I didn't use to like dark chocolate but I can take it in some circumstances - with cool, crisp vanilla icecream, or with a mint filling. No orange chocolate, though.

Last year I did a postcard exchange (as I did this summer) where I sent postcards and people sent me postcards. This year I was thinking I could do a sort of "secret santa" deal with my flist. So I allocate someone another person and they send some chocolate as well as a card. It's a nice gift, we only have to send one package (instead of loads) and you might make a new friend. The only problem I see with that is personal security - I wouldn't myself be happy to give out my address to someone I'd never spoken to.

That could be a problem for a lot of people, though not for me as I use my work address. Good idea, though :)
