{ Stargate; Stargate: Atlantis }
Jul. 29th, 2006 01:19 pmI really fucking love Carter's bizarre I-am-frustrated fling-back... thing that she does when she's talking to McKay. It cracks me up every damn time. Also, it's probably just me, but Rodney comes acorss really different on SG. AND THE LEMONS LOLZ.
Why oh why did we see more of the Atlantis set whilst watching SG than when we were watching SGA? And how cute is Lizzie's hair?! /shallow AND RADEK YAYZ! It is apparently Radek's job to say "Ohnoes, Wraith vessel approaching!" I'm not kidding on that score.
My favourite part of the episode had to be when Weir was geeking out over etymology. *loves* I forgot she could do that! And then when she meets Morgan le Fey and has this huge I-AM-AN-EXPLORER-WATCH-ME-SQUEE, megawatt grin. Guys? SHE IS SO PRETTY!
I really really love how bringing the Stargate and Atlantis plots together made both shows twenty times more interesting. Stargate was best when you were dealing with the Asguard plus the Goa'uld plus the Rebel Jaffa plus the Tok'Ra plus the Replicators. It was good at layers!
To conclude: how fucking terrifying must that supergate be to see?
Random: this episode was made after the Ronon love-fest Sateda (next week's episode).
"It was actually Samantha Carter's idea." LOLZ. Also? Teyla and Ronon were flirting in the back of the puddlejumper. Oh yeah.
Sheppard, you are such a whore. Fair day my hind. All of the women in that village looked like the Disney!tarts from Beauty & the Beast. OK, wait, I take it back: Lucius is such a whore. Sigh. It's going to be one of those episodes, obviously. Although Lucius is totally that guy from Mad About You!
RONON TOTALLY GRABS TEYLA'S ARM WHEN PEOPLE ARE RANDOMLY PAIRING UP. So is this canon now? And lolz, Ronon's face when Teyla's all I'm-my-own-woman (which, you know, serious kudos because Lucius was pissing me off [which I guess was the point]). And Ronon has this total oral/food feitish thing going on. It's hilarious. OK, OK, it's hilarious to me, but still: hee! So. Anyway. I'm guessing the stuff is in the food.
"How do you get your hair to go like that?" LOLZ!
Beckett: "Well, it is tempting, but I couldn't do that [because I am gay. Just sayin']" His face during Lucius' story is so completely glee-worthy, I'm not even going to go there.
This is obviously going to be my stupid portion of the week and was more than likely covered last week when I was squeeing over My Ship but: what the hell are they collecting gates for?
GAH SEXIST BRUTE. I always get uncomfortable when we get to portions of shows that are like this. And, okay, who wouldn't fawn over Elizabeth Weir, but seriously, I just find it creepy and disgusting. Torri's eyes in that scene when Lucius turns up...dude. So amazing. And I'm not being a fangirl here, I mean the way that entire thing happened was just really cool.
"Isn't she something, eh?"
"Yeah(!)" OH RONON. SMITTEN.
The posturing? In front of the mirror? Made me Very Uncomfortable. I feel violated. He keeps drinking that st-- WRAITH?! Also, when he gave Weir that candle thing, was I the only person to think "But it'll never take the place of Sheppard's Jar"? ADMIT IT: YOU THOUGHT IT TOO. And then Weir bitch-kicked his ass. These women are amazing. I am so shallow.
AND THEN HE POISONED THEIR MINDS TOO. I am so saddened by this. You do not know the extent of my woe when I saw this. (Although: "My giant friend" HAHAHA). Anyway, from here on out, just assume that I am weeping copiously. Also, assume that I interpret all of Sheppard's asshatic anti-Lucius posturing as him further defending Elizabeth's honour. Heh.
Oh wow. Sheppard's cold is a Plot Point, isn't it? I am so dense.
"What about Beckett?!"
"Well now he, he can walk on his hands!" OK WTF?
And Sheppard is actually so watchable as the hero figure. I'm surprised by this episode on so many levels of wtf. And McGillion's acting is off the chart.
In conclusion: Fly Lucius, fly, you disgusting, fat, annoying man. ("No lingering desires?" HAHAHAHA. Oh you so know what I'm thinking).
Mostly, I'm just perplexed. And distressed because now I have to choose between my Atlantis and Stargate icons.
ETA: Oh man, Rodney fans' response to The Pegasus Project amuses me on so many levels mostly because they forget that (a) Rodney IS an ass (lovable or not is very much YMMV) and that (b) the Stargate perspective on him is not as the Hero Scientist but as That Annoying Bloke Who Wanted To Leave Teal'C To Be Deleted By The Stargate That One Time. HE'S SUPPOSED TO BE DIFFERENT and the hostility that comes from SG-1 towards him is a product of the fact that he hasn't saved their lives as many times as Sam Carter. NOW DON'T YOU BITCH ON MY GIRL but it's really all about perspective. No, really.

Date: 2006-07-29 05:49 pm (UTC)Oh, I *totally* thought that.
He's twelve. He doesn't understand boy/girl relationships, and really, I don't even ship Shep/Weir, but seriously? That gourd? That thing was HIDEOUS. And you pointed out that the jar was there, so I was looking for it, and THERE IT WAS.
The hair comments, that was totally a fan shoutout. Totally. And Ronon/Teyla is slowly becoming canon, kthx.
Last night was the first full ep of SG-1 that I'd watched, like, ever. And it was good. But I think mostly because it involved Atlantis. Hm. Do their canons overlap?
And Sam is much cuter than I'd ever given her credit for. Hah.
Forgive teh rambly. I just woke up.

Date: 2006-07-29 06:01 pm (UTC)I saw the jar last week and flipped. That's because I watch this show so that I can point at things and yell "SHINY!" as opposed to watching it for content (a la CSI NY or L&O). So my shipper heart rages on. Someone somewhere commented saying that the candle thing was a phallic gesture. I don't even want to go there.
HAIR *flails* /in-joke rambling
And Ronon/Teyla...like are they fucking with us? Are the writers going to turn around and give Ronon an ex-wife and a son? BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE SO WRONG. All that UST is RIGHT THERE on the screen, and I swear Lutrell and Momoa are playing it up too...
That was actually a good representation of a Good Stargate episode, the kind we used to get way-back-when in season 4 when everyone was like "Ohnoes Goa'uld! Ohnoes Tok'ra annoying! Ohnoes
mecanical spidersREPLICATORS!" Man. Those were the days. Atlantis springs from SG canon but...that's about it. There are crossover jokes, though. Like the puddlejumper from Before I Sleep turning up in the S8 finale of SG and AU Rodney calling it a gateship, heh.LOL. Sam is cute most of the time. There are odd moments when the writers make her into this supergirl figure which, whilst I can totally deal with that, I can see why it can be a Fandom Issue (which it very much is. Warning: if you thought the Atlantis fandom was cracked out and full of crazies, you ain't seen nothin' yet).
