{ mmmm...sherbet }
Jun. 23rd, 2006 04:22 pmRandom: the world needs a vegetarian-friendly equivalent to the marshmellow. Just saying.
Today has been more than a little manic so I'm going to do it backwards and talk about the work situation first.
xanitia's mum works at a bank and a month ago, in prep for the journey home, I asked if the bank had any positions open for the summmer. She got in touch with me with the details of the manager of the local bank chain, and I got in contact with them, sending off a letter and my CV. Anyway, I didn't hear back from them and figured they didn't need me but, as a courtesy, I went into the bank today to thank
xanitia's mum for her help. She then told me that she was contacting the local area manager guy again because she had personally talked to the staff at the branch of the bank local to me and they had told her that they need people. So. I got home and I had a message from The Mother telling me that someone had called for me in the morning; it was the local area manager. I called him and he firstly apologised for not getting back to me sooner, which was very polite, and then he told me that his office (which also controls the office most local to me) didn't have any space. he then said he'd forward my details to the branch where
xanitia's mum works. I don't know what's going to happen next. I get the feeling that I'm going to get three phone calls that all sum to me not having a job. Which, sigh. But I also sent my CV off to an office place in town so they might still have something for me.
Anyway, I spent today at my old school basically talking to people and being really pleased to see them! I bumped into
wishes_of_stone towards the end - she reminded me that I agreed to sing at her (and her brother's) charity gig. (Why did I agree to do this? I haven't sung publicly for four years!) I also set up 2 coffee/lunch dates and agreed to going in to talk to my ex-form tutor's current form about university life. Look at me being productive. Also! I was looking in the school library for Virginia Woolf (because the local ones don't have any and it takes forever to order books in - I really need to get a membership at the city library) thinking that I could get my sister to loan them out for me. The Librarian, bless her heart, figured out my Plans and said she'd loan them out to me then and there - even though I'm not a student! So, yeah, I've taken out sixth form texts on my sister's y10 library card, heh. They'll be read within a week. It was just really kind of her to take that faith on me. Then, on the way home, I met an ex-classmate on the bus. Huzzah!
Tomorrow, am taking The Sister to go shopping (she needs to buy a present for a friend) and then taking her to the movies (she wants to see X3). Should be a good day, as long as my funds aren't drying up. Today has been a gorgeous day, and really quite fun, too. Tonight will be spent watching The X-files and/or reading. Which reminds me, Sky3 showed the first two episodes of Battlestar last night (33 & Water), both of which I love. Obviously, Sky had these episodes ages ago, but that's what I love about these freebie digital channels - all the repeats! Like old-school ER and Due South. Colour me impressed.
eta: I just found three Red Hot Chili Pepper albums on my iTunes. Which, whatever, awesome, but wtf?

Shame about the weather! It rained last weekend but today has been lovely.
I love the repeats too, and end up watching the 1am ones, too. But that's just because I'm up at that time, heh.
