1. I’m totally in love with burnt, autumn-y colours like chocolate browns and rich, rouge-like reds, not to mention beiges and ochres. I also love the new blue/green mix that’s out right now, not to mention plum colours. *swoons*
2. I can’t spellteh the. Yeh.
3. I suddenly have a new-found love of jewellery – earrings and necklaces and bangles. Ever since the week of the wedding, I’ve been wearing plain pieces. It makes me feel nice.
4. I don’t like mixing foods. So if The Mother has made paratha and, I don’t know, moong daal, I’ll only have one. I’ll never mix one type of food with another, either. So I won’t have pizza and noodles. That being said, I love eating soft and crunchy foods together, like ice-cream with a biscuit-like wafer or papad (poppadums) with rotli (chapattis).
5. Contrary to popular belief, I do have days when I don’t despise myself; days that are perfect in their ordinariness.
6. I love bread. I love making it, I love eating it. I could never ever give it up.
7. I don’t have a favourite number. I don’t have a favourite food. I don’t have a favourite piece of clothing or a favourite pair of shoes.
8. I have many, many phobias: claustrophobia, mild agoraphobia (oh the bloody irony) mild arachnophobia, necrophobia, mild acrophobia. I also suffer amenorrhoea on and off but that’s not a phobia.
9. I am crazy about time and in a very bad way. I am obsessed with it. I own a multitude of clocks, watches, journals, calendars and timetables. I live my life to an unwritten schedule. I’m obsessive about it.
10. I used to be obsessive compulsive. One thing I used to do was have to wave at my aunt and uncle when they left the house on a Sunday night (no other time, no other people). If I didn’t, I’d been anxious all night and wouldn’t be able to sleep.
11. I love the way words sound and am incredibly envious of people who can speak languages like Spanish and Russian. Phonology is my not-so-secret fetish and I obsess over it endlessly when people are talking to me. So much so that I miss what they’re saying, sometimes. Duh.
12. I also have an obsession with the way songs are sung and the mood they create. I think lyrics should match the mood of a song and get annoyed when they don’t. I also love it when lyrics merge together in songs (or have the potential to do so) without sounding daft. Sometimes I fall madly in love with a song just because of the way it makes me feel. A lot of the time, I fall for songs because of the sounds; on occasion I fall for the lyrics (but only if they match the SONG!) On a rare occasion I fall for the bass beat. Those are the songs that make me swoon. I shouldn’t listen to those songs when emotionally vibrant.
13. I really love writing. Not anything in particular but just the motion of it. I love the way it feels when my hand is sliding across paper, when a pen fits into the dents of my fingers.
14. Permanent pens and that tarmac-like stuff they use on building sites make me high.
15. I’m currently going through a phrase of really wanting to buy skirts but I’m resisting because I know I’ll never wear them or I’ll put them on and hate them.
16. Elephants are love. No, seriously!
17. My latest celebrity crush in Jensen Ackles. This amuses me because I saw him in Dark Angel and Dawson’s Creek and I was just a fan. Now, for some reason, when I don’t see him on telly at all, I’m totally obsessed. I need to make icons soon. Or fanart. Or something. *fangirls* However, I’m still a Rory Cochrane fangirl. I hope this never changes.
18. I love fics and stories that obsess about tiny, day-to-day details, like lipstick stains and cigarette smoke. It’s so human.
19. I compulsively clean my spectacles. Are you sensing a theme yet?
20. I have just fallen very heavily for the Franz track, “The Fallen”. OMFG. WOW.
