Tbh, coding scares the heebies out of me. It sends me batty. So (secret!) I just use the same set over and over, changing it enough to look different. Because mostly I'm just a coding coward, lol.

Notepads a great place to do it, though. Just make sure to save two copies (one .html and one .txt); I find that helps.

USUALLY when I code, it's for a website and I use Frontpage to do it. But this time I was running into layout issues (looong story), so decided to give hand coding a try. Oy.

As for my LJ layout? Ha! I downloaded the code and know just enough about LJ specifics to be dangerous and customized to my liking. Like the code I downloaded didn't even HAVE the code for the nav box in the upper left corner of my layout - I went to different code and ganked it and squished it into my code. LOL I also have the code saved as a text file on my USB stick JUST IN CASE. :-D

There was a step-by-step site that basically explained to me what all the tags do (I knew most of them but I wasn't brilliant). That being said, div tag is the what now? So, still feeling that one out.

lmao! Gee thanks. I have a book that is GREAT about html coding and stuff. I love it. It's pretty easy to follow and use and that's sitting right next to me now. lol It will probably be worn out by the time this is done. ;-)
