A week or so ago I was talking about how much I love watching pilot episodes for the second or third time. What I didn't mention was that I also love watching pilot episodes when I'm already an avid fan. By that I mean watching a pilot episode after coming to the fandom half-way through.

I started watching Farscape at 105, I think (Thank God It's Friday...Again) and I never went back and caught up with the beginning of the series. I watched S1 through S3 faithfully and tapered off somewhere during S4, only to catch the finale and d/l the miniseries a year later. Tonight I watched the pilot and the best thing about it was seeing how fragile the characters used to be and yet, at the same time, how concrete and absolute. In that first episode, we really get to grips with who Aeryn, D'Argo, Zhaan and Rygel are. It's amazing to see.

It's also amazing to be able to look at the pilot and know that the show is goingot be worthwhile. That so rarely happens with a pilot; it's normally so fettered with plot and exposition, the true talent tends to get hidden. But even in these early stages, we can see the beginnings of a heo in John Crichton and as someone who not only fangirls all over this damn show but loves the way in which the stories tcome together (with regard to TV in general), being able to go back to the beginning and start from scratch is a boon. What I loved most of all was how you couldn't decipher who was a friend and who was a foe. There are sinister elements to all of the characters.

So I'm getting the next five episodes and then I'm either going to work my way through the series or save some mobey to buy the DVDs. I also found my tape with my favourite 'time gets screwed up' episode on it - the one when Moya's crew gets stuck on the moastery planet and they change the course of history. I'm going to watch the rest of that soon.

That same tape has my only remaining episode of Seven Days on it. I miss that show! Jonathon LaPaglia is eeriely like his brother; they have the same nose. That entire show is about time travel; love, love, love. I wish I had more episodes but I don't and that was my favourite one anyway. Learning Curve and Point of View (Stargate S3) are both on there, too - two of my earliest Stargate episodes, although I've since gone back and seen most of the first two series, pilot included.

Anyway, suffice to say, I'm pretty excited, in a sad way. And tomorrow is Lost Son, argh! I just know I'm going to cry. I'm going to tape it and then the NY episode afterwards is that awesome Stella case. Muchos Love.

I almost forgot - GIP!
