A cute link I found on the BBC website about blogging. I always find these articles interesting because of the language and stilted presentation, not to mention always being two steps behind (if only because the internet works and moves so fast). Also, I don't think livejournal is the same concept at all so the contrast makes you stop and think what exactly do you use eljay for?

An article about a Muslim girl being outcasted by her community for learning traditional Indian dance. Which is sad on so many levels. The historical conflict in that region is just so sad to me, especially growing up in it. You have to make a move away from that thinking and embrace the whole of the culture. It's difficult, though, because if you grow up amingst your own people, you learn those ideas almost through the blood. I didn't, so it's easier for me. But some of things people I know say...sheesh. I can't deal with it. It's all racism to me. And I don't care if it's Hindus hating on Muslims or the other way around, I am done with it. If I ever have children, this is not how it will be in my family. It's hard, you know, to stop thinking that way. But I'm glad that I have and I hope that my younger family membersdo too. (I hear all this "But you weren't there; you don't know" and sure, that's true, but take a minute and think how times have changed. It's time to stop fucking around and just move on already).

In other news, some women are just plain stupid, some Canadians missed the dead guy on the road, and Aussie ads get attacked by British PC campaigners which, frankly, sucks muchly, dude. Lastly: Women Writers and the Orange Booker Prize. An article of which I have little make and subsequently, little to say.

[livejournal.com profile] crouchingmajor? Just written you a letter. Nothing has happened this week so it's short. :P Middle English next and then lit. hist. after which I'm going to back to halls and sleeping until Sunday. (Wouls sleep through Sunday, too, except I really have to start writing my lit. hist. essay. LE SIGH). For now, fic editing. Hahahaha.

Today an email from one of the tutors stated "I do not have a Tardis".

Also? My lit. hist. tutor is a Buffy fangirl.
