So much for Rome this weekend.

This morning I had to get up early to go to my parents' store and partake in the stock take. If you don't know, what this entails is counting every single sell-able item in the store, and toting up its monetary value. That then gets compared to our average incoming, just to make sure we're not out of whack in our numbers. It's a tedious thing, but time goes quickly enough.

I will say this for the whole thing: if you want to know about the economy, perform a stock take of a convenience store. The relative prices of things will surprise you, and the general increase in prices year on year can tell you a lot. Bread and milk are the primary indicators - anyone knows that. But VATable goods are next up. Why is it easier to purchase pet food in this country than it is disposable nappies? Sanitary products are so expensive next to things like confectionery. Madness.

I spent the rest of the day re-watching all of River Song's episodes of Doctor Who, and remembering the details I had previously forgotten. I enjoy River a lot, and I'm glad her story this season seems to run parallel to the major plot workings (as opposed to being the primary plot).

The next episode airs on Saturday, but I am not certain I will be home from Pygmalion in time to see it air live, so may have to iPlayer it as soon as I get indoors. Am trying to organise getting to London in a timely fashion - The Ex-Flatmate is coming to the show with me - but am not doing so great so far.

Tomorrow I have to go back to work, and on Wednesday I have to renew my bus ticket. Having spent only two of the past ten days at work, I am somewhat reluctant to return. That is the downside to downtime.
