Today I spent money on nail polish in Boots. I have been using my one bottle of clear nail polish for the past 3-4 years, and on Monday night - when I opened it to find a gunky mess - I realised it was time to invest in more. To make the most of some'get one free' offers, I also bought a tube of lipstick. I normally buy a plum colour that is a bit dramatic, and which I don't have cause to wear too often, but today I picked up a colour called coffee shimmer which is perfect for me. I don't wear make up a whole lot, mostly because of my skin, but also because I look a bit like a doll when painted. But this shade is so neutral. I am a little bit excited.

I also bought some coloured nail polish. Normally I buy red, and I still have my go-to bottle, but today I picked up purple enamel which looks like it will block nicely, a glittery, 60-second purple that will be good for going out, and - my favourite - a colour called blue vogue which falls somewhere between midnight and indigo.

Guess what I will be doing tomorrow?

Also tomorrow: BROWNIES OM NOM NOM. Am going to tackle a recipe that twincy kindly shared with me today. Will share the verdict if I can locate unsalted butter.

Ooh makeup! I love strolling through the aisles and looking at stuff. I tend to pick bright lip stains and neutral eyeshadows because of my glasses. The blue nail polish sounds really pretty.

I don't normally buy, but I do like looking. I like unusual eyeliner, and nail polish, but I lucked out with the lipstick. Now I won't feel so ridiculous when I go out, ha.

Ooh, you have inspired me to paint my nails, which I haven't done for years. Might have to go buy some pretty colours tomorrow too.

True story: when I am feeling lazy/normally I just paint my thumbnails. You can fool a LOT of people into thinking you have the whole hand done. /helpful
