In case it wasn't obvious - with all the time I've had to dedicate to concentric discussions on Lucas North - I have today off. Hurrah! I spent the weekend in Lancaster with The Sister. Took the train up on Saturday and then bumbled around town for a few hours before heading back to halls to cook. I was forced to watch Strictly (so! damn! pantomime! I get embarrassed watching that show) and then we watched Merlin which was so entertaining that I've seen it twice more since. After that we watched Whip It which, again, was enjoyable fare.
On Sunday we watched Office Space whilst getting ready to go out before going into town to see Red. Yes, we did spend the whole time just watching things and eating badly. Red was great fun. We went out to eat, and then - the highlight - we went to Chris Addison's stand up show. Guys. GUYS. Okay, firstly, he is adorable. He laughs at himself almost constantly. Secondly, he is hilarious. It was such a great show! Absolutely brilliant.
Yesterday I came home, and then The Mother and I watched Spooks which I am still trying to get over.

To work tomorrow, for a three-day week, and then Diwali and New Year at the weekend, for which we will be in London on Saturday. I have a couple photos to post - one of my cousin's kids in Halloween regalia, and one of Lancaster, but need to plug in my phone first.

Have been thinking a lot about fandom, and fic, recently, and am trying to decide where my participation falls. For a while last year I decided I'd be more about one-off screencaps, and this year I have been slightly more chatty, but I don't know. I have a fic that is not going anywhere, and I have a lot of thoughts about character and about fandom reaction to ladies (still - STILL - this is my bugbear) and I just don't know if I want to talk about it out loud, or if I want to sit here and flail about/SEETHE IN MY SOUL etc.

Guuuuuuuuys, I have forgotten this eljaying business somewhat. Like. I had stuff! Stuff to talk about! And now I-- I don't know. Does anyone have recipes for cocktails that err on the sweeter side?

edit: I totally bought this coat this weekend. I AM IN LUST. Oh, materialism.

Date: 2010-11-02 05:07 pm (UTC)Strictly this week was more pantomime than usual. They really liked the Halloween theme *g*
Crishna and I went to see Chris Addison a while ago, he was ace.

Date: 2010-11-02 05:11 pm (UTC)It is the audience's immediate yaaaaay/boooooo-ing that makes me prickly, and also the judges. The dancing I like! THAT IS ALL. (Sorry!)
HE IS. Just...lovely. Lovely.

Date: 2010-11-02 05:23 pm (UTC)OH GOD THE AUDIENCE, YES I KNOW. And the judges (although I love Alesha for ever and ever, and Craig is awful much less often than Len, I hate Len). Although tbh some of the contestans/pros are annoying. Just watching the dancing is the best bet.

Date: 2010-11-02 09:53 pm (UTC)I feel obligated to recommend a Dirty Shirley Temple, since it's where my user name comes from! Also, it's delicious. Lemon-lime soda or ginger ale, vodka, and grenadine syrup (which is very sweet), all amounts are up to you.

Date: 2010-11-03 02:46 pm (UTC)Unfortunately I have no recipes to share with you, because I like my cocktails at the opposite end of the sweet scale, or if they are less cocktail and more beer or wine.
In anticipation of me not logging in for another few days, as seems to be the norm - HAPPY DIWALI :D
