So. HomeSec was responsible for the bomb that killed Ros and Baby!Homesec? And then Harry Pearce killed HomeSec. And then-- I don't know? I don't know. I am looking forward to seeing more of The New Guy (and his linguistic range, apparently?), and listening to Tariq talk about things in his lovely, lovely voice, and I liked that Ruth had a lot to do (Nicola Walker carried the episode for me), and I guess Lucas North is a basket full of fuckery unto himself, so who knows what that is going to be about. I wish I didn't find Sophia Myles so fucking annoying, but I'm willing to give Beth a shot, and I was less irritated by the character than I was by the actress' notable quirks. I just. Ugh. I don't know. It is difficult when only one of the four surviving cast is actually doing something and it turns out I don't care so much about them. (Sorry, Lucas? Sorry.)

I need to re-watch. It wasn't bad! They hit their usual bullshit buttons - undercover as a prostitute; coloured girl lacking any sort of autonomy; Lucas North has History and Issues - but there was nothing terrible about it. There just wasn't anything particularly brilliant about it, either. I remember something in it made me laugh, but I can't remember what exactly triggered it.* I thought it was a fairly solid stand alone, and that the new cast all had Things to Do, which is always commendable. I-- yeah, okay, I really don't know.

(I don't even know what to say about Harry and Ruth. The blocking in that early scene was awkward, but the end was lovely. The only thing I really know after this episode is that I will forever be referring to HomeSec III as Trip.)

*) AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA: TARIQ CO-OPTING MOST OF THE UK'S COMPUTERS AND HARRY'S USUAL BLASE ATTITUDE TOWARDS THIS SHIT. Shutting down the internet! Again!

And now I am going to sleep because I am still ill.

edit: a-ha! I knew it was Pope.

Solitude
by Alexander Pope

Happy the man, whose wish and care
A few paternal acres bound,
Content to breathe his native air
In his own ground.

Whose herds with milk, whose fields with bread,
Whose flocks supply him with attire;
Whose trees in summer yield shade,
In winter, fire.

Blest, who can unconcernedly find
Hours, days, and years, slide soft away
In health of body, peace of mind;
Quiet by day,

Sound sleep by night; study and ease
Together mixed, sweet recreation,
And innocence, which most does please
With meditation.

Thus let me live, unseen, unknown;
Thus unlamented let me die,
Steal from the world, and not a stone
Tell where I lie.

first off, I take back what I said about having lj on the mobile: clicking on things is a huge pain. Actually relating to the episode. I loved a lot of it (Harry is so deeply screwed up), hated some parts (I am telling myself Lucas is being a bastard because he is grieving; i really hope we're not doing Adam again) and am definitely intrigued for the rest of the series. Frankly, everyone needs a holiday, stat.

We need to fix you up with a laptop and a dongle.

OH I REMEMBER WHAT MADE ME LAUGH: Tariq co-opting everyone's PCs! That bit was GREAT.

Do you mean about Lucas being suspicious? I figured that was a gut reaction to 2.0 and all that fuckery?

I am up for this season being about Harry losing his nut, by the way. That would make for good viewing. And I liked Dimitri (dude, is that for serious the character's name? Because: awesome).

But I still don't have a solid opinion on the episode. I think 50:50. The good is easily waylaid by odd pacing and Other Oddities.

nooo, that way madness and no sleep lies (i am still up because man next door is still watching tv)

when dimitri's name came up in spoilers i thought he was russian...

Idk, one of the things that appealed to me about Lucas was that he never had trouble with ros being in charge, and wasn't usually misogynistic. And the way he was with beth just hacked me off - she saved your life then brought you critical intel, man! At least be polite.

If Harry cracked he probably would go up on the roof and start shooting. Oh, hi there ficbunny.

I just-- someone actually thought that would be a good name to hand to the newbie! Like. Spooksdom! What on earth?! Your Slavic obsession is actually hilarious.

It didn't come off as misogyny to me - just, he didn't take to her. There was a lot of self righteousness there - I'm here for Queen and country, you're here for money, blah, blah, whatever, Lucas, you're there because nowhere else will take you - but it looked like the usual round of suspect the outsider.

I KNOW. Of all the names...

oh, i know, i'm not even getting into that mess until the recap. He definitely didn't take to her but, you know, she shot two guys for him! On the plus side, the likelihood of a romance subplot just went down.

Ok i have to go to bed now, even if the twit next door doesn't. More rambling in the morning!

He'd probably be more into her if she shot him, as apparently that is the way he likes things.

That was just... a massive personal validation of a very real level, wasn't it? I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THIS FEELING. Usually when it happens with Bones it's either because I read spoilers/like guessing, or because that show has an emotional complication level of about 5. As [livejournal.com profile] baggers will attest, I only found out about the proposal thing on SATURDAY, and even then I honestly expected it to be almost nothing (well, not nothing, but - NOT A THING, NOT A THING AT ALL LIKE THIS).

I'm being made to feel shame for not writing in this fandom for so long by the show itself, basically.

OHHHH, I totally forgot that brilliant internet thing! Mission accomplished: after two aborted attempts, Harry Pearce finally gets to shut down The Internet. (And I don't pretend to know much about zombie computers, but that sounded surprisingly technically accurate, for Spooks!)

Baby!HomeSec = the guy who died with Ros
