What I especially liked about it was that unlike some of the previous seasons, the story arc didn't seem forced. Like, the cracks were a throwback to things like Bad Wolf and Torchwood, but then it became this whole other, intricate, wonderful mass of story. I love that!
Ahahahaha, OKAY. I am (obviously? idk) delga. *adds*
It was just so... happy. Which sounds silly, but given the events that preceded it, I was so pathetically grateful to see everybody alive and happy, let alone dancing at a wedding, that I may have burst into tears. (The Doctor being erased from time hit me particularly hard. But then, I frequently want to mother Matt Smith's Doctor)
But our expectations have been toyed with so as to expect great sadface. I mean, see the precedent?
Also, I was saying above, the PLOTINESS of occurences makes me giddy with happy. I mean, fuck! The cracks, yes, okay, pretty in-your-face, but the subtle Doctor Reassures Amy? River Song bouncing around? EVERYTHING? What a coherent season, omg.
This is very true! Who finales do rather have a reputation for punching viewers in the gut.
Oh god, yes! And when the Doctor was zipping back and forth in time in order to tell Rory what to do and grab Amy a drink etc, oh gosh. I have a writer's kink for good plotting, and that was just spectacular, the kind of writing that makes me jealous that I can't operate at that level. I think Moffat's season has suffered a little bit because he's not as fond of the spectacle as RTD was (I've seen a lot of people retrospectively be underwhelmed by an episode) but when we've traded it in for writing of this quality, well, I'm not complaining.
I adored the whole series so much that all I could think when it ended last night was that I want to now download them all and watch them over again. So I might.
