{ Doctor Who, 5xsomething, Vampires etc. }
May. 8th, 2010 08:27 pmone. There were whole swathes of this episode that made me actually laugh out loud. Believe it or not, that's very difficult to do. I like Rory. I like Amy's excitement. I liked the running around, getting into trouble. Mostly I enjoyed Matt Smith's line delivery, even more than usual. He is extremely particular about his enunciation. I love that!
two. This episode was a classic case of set-'em-up, fail-to-knock-'em-down. Which is to say: the resolution was horrifically bad. Things I may or may not have said out loud: "OH FOR FUCK'S SAKE." It's a shame because it nullifies the better parts of the episode. It was like taking the amazingness of the Dickens episode and then mashing it up with the end of the Olympics one. Horrible, horrible stuff.
three. My ladycrush on Helen McCrory refuses to abate. \o/ That aside, the relationship between her character and the Doctor was so different to the usual protagonist/antagonist thing we normally see, and whilst a lot of that was scripting, a good portion of it was how the two of them played it out. The way the Doctor lounges in her 'throne'; the way she submits to the water at the end; the way they talk to one another. Beautiful.

Also, I watched Ashes to Ashes last night and felt utterly wrecked. So. Yes.

Date: 2010-05-08 08:59 pm (UTC)I'm slightly confused. I did love FishLady and the Doctor, though. That scene at the end was particularly lovely. I also loved the Doctor's resolution to the storm: an on/off switch. Oh, if only.
Things I still love: Karen Gillan's hair.

THE ON/OFF SWITCH ANNOYED THE SHIT OUT OF ME. Like. What the hell! Once you start a storm, you can't just stop it, that's...you have to blow something nuclear or whatever.
YES. SHE IS GREAT.

Date: 2010-05-09 10:59 am (UTC)They focused on it specifically, so I doubt it's an error.
I liked the on/off switch, it seemed so obvious. Especially for a man-made storm as opposed to a natural weather extreme. idk, it amused me.
