So, sometimes, at work, my co-workers - and I really don't understand what this is - but sometimes they forget how to say my name. Like, they'll be going along full steam and then they'll stumble! Over my name! Which they've said probably only two minutes before!

Look, I know my name is all foreign and has three syllables, but it's actually REALLY EASY to say? No awkward syllables; said pretty much as written; isn't a world of consonants or silent letters.

AND YET.

Man, it's so weird when that happens!

Long week was long, and next week (which will be shorter) will also be long. On the plus side, after my driving lesson tomorrow morning we're going to Leicester for my aunt's birthday, and then on Monday I'm off to see The Flatmate.

--

Long week = fucking exhausted so The Mother is on my back about eating and won't leave me the fuck alone. Here's the thing. After a long week of 9-10 hour days plus The Commute from Hell, do I really want to be dealing with her bullshit? No. Do I want to be dealing with anything that isn't my tumblr feed? NOT REALLY. Fuck social interaction. Let me have some fucking peace and quiet.

I don't have a lock on my door so I've thrown my chair in front of it instead. It won't hold her back but fuck knows it gives better warning than a siren.

Ugh, am crankypants now. I also feel like I have the emotional maturity of a much younger person. I should read something today but that's a whole 'nother list of not gonna happen.

GUYS I HAD GOOD THINGS TO WRITE ABOUT HONEST.

Oh gosh, what a lovely name! You must tell her I said that. (Or not, because, awkward? But: seriously lovely Hindi name omg.)

But you're new to that job space and I've been here 50 weeks? I know what it is, sort of - they want to say it as writ instead of stretching that second syllable an then it throws them because they know it's wrong. But it's happened like 10 times this week! ODDNESS.

I would be less cranky if The Mother would stop barging into my room for no reason other than to wheedle me. She thinks I'm keeping secrets or some such bullshit but I actually just want to be left alone. This is apparently not allowed? WHATEVER GIVE ME PEACE.

I totally would, but she's gone back to India for five weeks (!!). It's a gorgeous name though, right?

You stretch the second syllable in your name? Man, when we meet up, I'm afraid the first thing I'll be asking is how to pronounce your name properly. I'm sorry your co-workers aren't quite getting it, because I think your name is lovely. (Even so, it could be worse? My mum works for a company that... I think they have an office in Mumbai? At any rate, they have a lot of folk on exchange from the India offices, and last year they had a guy called Yomi (which is an abbreviated name, I think?). And there was this woman in the office called Denise who always unapologetically called him Yummi, and continued to do so even after people corrected her because "he doesn't mind, and I've always called him Yummi". Eventually my mum got so annoyed that she told this woman "you can continue calling him Yummi, but in return I'm going to start calling you Deirdre" and, true to her word, kept referring to Denise as 'Deirdre' until she bought a clue and started pronouncing Yomi's name right. Which is to say: at least your co-workers don't deliberately mispronounce your name, I guess?).

Aw man. She's wheedling you about your supposed secrets? That's not good. I hope she leaves you alone to chill out on your day off! *hugs*

Does she ask you to pronounce it as writ, or with the 'th' sound? *curious moo*

Hahaha, yes. I know, it doesn't read that way, but it never ever sounds like 'mannish'. I'm pretty certain I say my name somewhere in this voicepost (http://delgaserasca.livejournal.com/682448.html)? Um. The rest of it is hugely embarrassing, though, lol.

Ha, your mother is crazy great, and you're right, that is the plus side. It doesn't upset me or anything but I do have a moment of, wait, did that happen? Yes. There was once a girl who would always write my name 'Miesh'. so I'd always reply to her as 'Jyo'. Because I'm petty.

Just! I don't know! She thinks I'm not talking to her enough or something (she goes through phases of caring about this type of thing) and has decided to rectify it by standing in front of me for 15-minute stretches. FRUSTRATING.
