Dec. 23rd, 2009 10:07 pmI mean. Fuck! I don't know if I believe the ending or not, but I'm not -- I thought I'd be distraught if something ever happened to Ros but it was so perfect either way. She and Baby!HomeSec had amazing chemistry at the end. Ros and Lucas running around being badass! Ros and Evil!American du jour - "I keep my word", and all I could think is ROS IS A LYING LIAR WHO LIES.
Ode to Joy; Tariq has family in Lahore; CRAZY CHRISTINE 2.0 WAS SHOT DAMN IT.
ROS VERSUS SARAH. ROS SHOT SARAH. "Stop whinging, it's just a scratch." !!!!!!!
I don't really understand anything any more.

"I'm not afraid of dying." I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.

Date: 2009-12-23 10:20 pm (UTC)I am WELL aware that I am basically this massive Ros fan who is easily pleased but I'm unashamed because the fandom is full of people who are 100% behind Lucas North despite his having done nothing, and who once upon a time worshipped at the altar of ADAM CRISIS CARTER so whatever. But. Like. In meta terms this episode validated SO MUCH of what I was thinking about for Ros' arc and if this IS her exit - if she IS dead, and not just under the rubble, then, idk, I'm not too fussed? I mean. I would like SOMEONE to live it out eventually ffs but I think -- once she said, I'm not afraid of death, that felt real. Because Yalta Ros totally feared death and this Ros is SO MUCH MORE THAN that. So in those terms it's a really fulfilling episode.
I also liked that Lucas and Ros got to play together - their banter was so completely reassuring - and I liked that Lucas went toe-to-toe with Ros a lot of the time. If she is dead, then this episode set him up for the promotion because he made not-bad-to-okay decisions despite being caught up on Sarah. (See: Adam Carter's FUCK AWFUL decisions re: everything ever as a corollary.)
And Baby!HomeSec! Jeez.
Idk what to say about Harry Pearce who was shoehorned weirdly into this. Crying on the roof top, what? Ruth having to explain nuance to him? What?
lol, re: Ros' comment that all they do is follow Harry's instinct. It's so true! It's so lol.

Date: 2009-12-23 10:33 pm (UTC)I do, however, think that if she lives things will go a little like this:
- Harry will retire, because he's had some sort of emotionally crippling fit and started crying on roofs.
- Baby!HomeSec will give Ros the job because he owes her his life
- Lucas will take Ros' old job and they'll hire a couple of new kids to fill in the gaps
- The whole thing will look like Code 9 (which I never saw, but imagine was full of hip young things and their techie toys)
On the whole, I did like it. But was left feeling slightly unfulfilled in some ways. I can't quite put my finger on it though.

Sure, the plot was sketchy but who the hell cares? It was one brilliant ride the whole way through.
