"There's no art
To find the mind's construction in the face:
He was a gentleman on whom I built
An absolute trust."
Macbeth 1.4, 11-14

+     Didn't we do this with Anthony Head in season 1?

+     And also, to some extent, last week?

+     Ros: a mind of many levels. Triangulate the call? Excellent work.

+     "No, I'm not bloody all right." She sounded so irritated. Beautiful.

+     Ros' father-figures are a dangerous bunch. That probably explains a lot.

+     Extracting Maynard was ACE. Exit 19!

+     reused sets: where the team first met Adam; where Harry met the Americans last year. Not even re-decorated.

+     "Who is she? Is she Russian?" I'm sorry; I totally lol'd. IT'S ALWAYS THE RUSSIANS.

+     MINA BARINOVA! I should point out that I didn't really understand the plot at that point. Colville was obsessed with the girl and was going after those he thought were responsible for her death?

+     I thought Ros had an apartment?

+     This is much more interesting than Daddy!angst. I like the idea of pitting Ros against someone who understands her reactions, and then her having to outwit herself (almost). Ros is unexpected, so to be more unexpected is to be what exactly? It's lovely to watch.

+     It's also lovely because of what I was trying to say re: wanting Ros to face Sarah/Christine 2.0: when you put Ros against a traitor, you pit her against herself. And in a lot of ways she's always the master of her own undoing (approaching the mirror, gun drawn; only Ros in that scene, both sides of her). Daddy!issues do come into it, of course, but when she talks to Colville, that's a different kind of sadness. I think it must be what she fears becoming: the coup, then Yalta, and then Connie. Or maybe I'm thinking about this too much.

+     The shot made me scream out loud. Not kosher.

+     (Tariq's accent is wonderful, by the way. I can't place the consonants at all, but it's delightful.)

+     "Were you in love with her?" No, really, Peter Salter all over again. But different. It's a different mirror.

+     "Reap as you sow, Ros; reap as you sow." Lol, it's like the whole episode was written JUST FOR ME.

+     OHHHH IT'S ABOUT JO. I should have guessed that already.

+     "Don't make a decision you can't live with. That's what you taught me." That explains a lot.

+     The suicide was fairly predictable, no?

+     RUTH: SUPERSLEUTH. I loved Ros trying to butter the wound, arguing for Sarah, not against.

+     The Ros&Lucas relationship is SO INTERESTING to me! Like: she totally tasered him that one time! And now she's his boss and feels responsible for him. But also, they're kind of on a par! AND SO PROFESSIONAL.

+     AAAAHHHHHHH NEXT WEEEEEEEK! Ros sounds hilarious, lol. Every time she's faced with an idiot, she gets just that bit sharper.

I'm exhausted. Also, UGH, I am kind of done with the type of Ros fan who is prone to forgiving her everything. STOP IT YOU ARE MAKING HER BORING. The whole point of Ros' amazingly compartmentalised psyche is that it makes her blind to a lot of shit sometimes and sometimes it makes her Super Aware. (That was not a spoiler, btw. Just an observation.) She was aware of what she was doing when she shot Jo and she did it anyway. WHAT DOES THIS SAY ABOUT HER? It says obsessive fans need to stfu and let the character be ffs.
