01. Crazy things that actually happened in Cambridge this past fortnight: a dog was juggling outside M&S; the electronica spaceman was back. Man, this city. I don't know.
02. I watched a lot of TV which is terribly unsurprising. I have skipped through all the things that I find annoying in Glee (which is unfortunately quite a bit) but I do love the musical numbers, and I do like the guy playing Will. Like. A lot.
03. I also watched - and enjoyed - Supernatural, and I hope we see Those Guest Stars again. I have a deep, deep fondness for Jim Weaver and for Titus Welliver, and I wish they'd had a scene together (Deadwood reunion!) Also: apparently the casting directors at Lost and Supernatural know the same agents (lols, Mark Pellegrino. Awesome). But, yeah, whilst the premiere was touch&go for me, I enjoyed this one a lot.
04. The Bones season premiere was completely delightful, and my love for Cam is so immense at this point that I don't really need to talk about it. My love for Caroline has apparently never been expressed before, so: I really love Caroline omg.
04b. Speaking of Bones, have a fic rec:
The above is from
daygloparker's fic The Forgotten Dialects of the Heart. She labelled it as "Ten untold stories about love that also have the benefit of being true". I labelled it as "the other side of canon". Which is to say: this isn't just a fic about Brennan and Booth and the whole friction of their relationship. It's a fic about every character that we know and love, and is equal parts hilarious and heartbreaking. There is a section explicitly about Hodgins that is so perfect and a whole section about Cam that will feel like a slap to the face. AMAZING. Go forth and read, and then tell
daygloparker how much you loved it. Because you will.
05. This week's Defying Gravity proceeded to unravel a lot of mythology, thereby ruining a lot of what I enjoy about the show, but the very end was excellent. I had anticipated something of that ilk (hearing, actually) but the fullness of situation was GREAT. I guess that ultimately I know the show has been axed, or is well on its way there, and I know that the story-telling has been hit or miss. But I enjoy the quasi-chemistry between Ron Livingston and Laura Harris, and I love Nadia (who looks just like the Cate Blanchett character from the newest Indiana Jones film, lol). So that's the only reason I'm watching at this point. That said, there's potential there and it's a shame that it hasn't taken off.
06. Fringe is back and absolutely wonderful. Glad to see Astrid is still around, and good to know that the mythological bent is still going strongly. I find it difficult to articulate why I enjoy this show so intensely, but I think it's a mix of the mystery, the creepy and Walter. But then you get scenes where Peter is holding Olivia's face, trying to root her to this reality, or Walter standing at a gravestone by his lonesome keeping the biggest secret of all and, well, really? I'm supposed to be immune to that? Yeah. No.
07. I watched Das Leben der Andern on Friday night which was very good. I got interrupted near the end but managed to follow what was going on. There were some really beautiful performances in that film, not to mention a light touch with the musical score. I highly recommend it.
08. My cousins went to uni this weekend. P is moving into her second year and is terribly excited about her new place; I'm going to call her in a minute to make sure no-one's burned the place down yet. V somehow landed in a flat full of non-English-speaking foreign students but, as of today, has found someone to talk to. I'll call her again later in the week, just to check up and make sure she's okay. The Sister is off next weekend. Unfortunately this means I have to go too.
09. My driving lesson this morning wasn't good but also wasn't bad. I'm aware that I need to have more lessons spaced closer together but £25 p/w is about all I can afford right now.
10. Today I watched a shitload of Leverage because I haven't been watching season 2 as it airs. I think it makes for better viewing this way, though, and this season is much more even (and less annoying) than season 1. They're doing a great job of hiding Gina Bellman's pregnancy, and they've been a little more open with Elliott's backstory (though not at all subtle). The whole cast has been great, really, though mostly I am watching for Parker. Her dismay over all the conspiracy theories was terribly lol. Here: have a yay inducing on-set photo.
11. Hi! Then and than are different words! Then is an adverb denoting an action or event taking place after a preceding one; than is a comparative article.
12. New Mad Men tonight for which I am, as per always, very, very excited. Last week's episode gave me a scene with Don and Sally AND a scene with Don and Peggy, so I felt somewhat rewarded. Speaking of Mad Men, please check out this great on-set picture of the girls being mobbed.
13. NCIS and Criminal Minds are back this week OH MY GOD. I bought the former's S5 this week and have been watching random clips from various seasons. My happy place, it's totally here. I have unlocked a post that I was going to finish just after I watched the S6 finale but then never completed. So. It's incomplete and I never posted it. But there are some things there. (As you can probably tell, the reason I never finished it is because my thinky thoughts are so verbose that I can never stay ontopic long enough; eventually it was so overwhelming that I had to stop. But! I will get these things said one day! I will!) As for Criminal Minds I am happily anticipating the return of Paget Brewster, yes, yes, I am.
14. Lols, apparently Saffron Burrows is in talks to join L&O: Criminal Intent. This is FABULOUS news (insert usual wave of adoration for her here). Also, both she and Jeff Goldblum are wonderfully tall and that in itself will be a delight to witness. Fuck, I hope it comes through.
15. I watched Merlin last night and continue to be extremely fond of it. There wasn't anything spectacular about the episode but it was a comforting watch, and I am so completely in love with Gwen that my heart nearly burst at her tenderness towards Arthur. Oh, those crazy kids! Also! The trailer for the rest of the season looks so wonderful! Man, Morgana, you need to watch yo'self, honey.
16. The True Blood finale is something I have been unable to talk about. In fact the same goes for most of this season. I love Sophie-Ann, though. Does that count?

04b. Speaking of Bones, have a fic rec:
If you actually mapped out all the morsels of advice that Angela has doled out to Brennan over the years, analyzed them the way you would an author's canon of work, a few recurring themes might emerge: namely, in this order, [1] you (Brennan) want to have sex with Booth; [2] Booth wants to have sex with you; [3] you two are ridiculously perfect for each other in so many ways, whether you realize it or not; [4] you're not actually as failed of a human being as you think you are.

This post was long. There are less trivial things to talk about but I am terrible at those things currently so we'll leave it be for now. It was supposed to be short wtf.
