I have to say, Caulfield is one of the funniest comediennes on the British circuit right now. My gosh. I think what I like about her the most is that unlike a lot of female comics, she takes her humours from others as opposed to herself. This is a tres masculine trait, but it's a nice change from all the self-deprecation that goes around. Her direct opposite is a lovely wee bloke called Mark Watson who is the quietest, loveliest guy. But it's been a bit weird watching these episodes as they air (I came to the Live at the Apollo series really, really late) because they've featured some really great people that I've never heard of. And now Shappi Khorsandi is everywhere, and I saw Sarah Millican on Have I Got News for You and basically I want to see as many comedy acts as I can now. Which. I don't know what that is. I still want to see a ballet at Covent Gardens, too, so I haven't completely flipped over, but my levels of obsession are a wee bit up right now.

Guys, this was the last in the series. WHAT AM I GOING TO DO NOW? You know. Other than see Michael McIntyre live (!!!!) in October?

Oh god I LOVE HER. She's one of the few comediennes who appears to be able to hold her own on Mock the Week (which is unfortunately male-dominated). Perhaps this is because her humour is very observational, and not self-deprecating. I think Jo Brand also does the same sort of thing, although she is prone to making fun of herself. Also: yay, Mark Watson, who is adorable! I've never heard of Shappi Khorsandi or Sarah Millican, though, which is slightly shameful.

Now I just have the urge to watch loads and loads of comedy.

I hadn't before I started watching Comedy Roadshow - BBC iPlayer has all the episodes up on catch up, as far as I can tell, so you should check that out if you want a laugh. Every episode is a bit hit or miss because of the range of comedians about, but the hits are great OH GOSH.

True story: I absolutely ADORE Jo Brand, and also Victoria Wood who I most recently heard on Radio 4's I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue (omcgee, you would LOVE that). Sometimes I think it's a bit of a shame that the best known comediennes are the French & Saunders lot because despite their being hilarious (and they totally are - I saw them during their farewell tour; an absolute riot) there's so much range out there.

As an addendum: I've also seen Lenny Henry live and was so disappointed. He wasn't bad, per se, but he wasn't great either, and he was a bit smug. Sadface.

I think Jo Brand is genuinely one of the best comediennes out there. She's like the female Jack Dee, and I really admire her caustic sense of humour.

True fact: I love Margaret Cho, but I had no idea she was a stand-up comedienne until just now. Also BILL BAILEY. I think can be a little bit hit-and-miss, but there's something reassuringly gentle about his comedy. He's kind of the opposite end of the spectrum to comedians like Frankie Boyle and Dylan Moran. (Which: oh, Dylan Moran. I'm not especially fond of his stand-up, but HEAVENS he was good in Black Books).

Mark Lamarr would be on this list, except I've never actually seen him doing proper stand-up comedy. I had a tonne of people vying for the last spot: Stephen K Amos, Jo Caulfield, Jo Brand, Russell Howard, Mark Watson, Bill Bailey, etc etc. But I chose Adam Hills because not only do I adore him, he's also quite pleasing on the eyes. (Speaking of comedians I have an enormous crush on, see Thomas Nelstrop (http://www.thomasnelstrop.com/Private/voiceover.html)). Lee Evans is occasionally on this list, as unarguably the best at physical comedy, but I find you can only watch so much of him before you have to go and lie down.

Incidentally, I think Ricky Gervais is the most overrated comedy act ever. Thoughts?

Bill Bailey's humour is so different to anything else I've seen. I have to say, it was a toss up between Moran and O'Briain, but I've seen more Moran, and yeah, the end of my list was all, "but wait, what about..." and then my freaking out over how others would judge my list because it didn't feature, like, Stephen K Amos, or Gina Yashere, or anyone from Mock the Week! SACRILEGE! + BILLY CONNOLLY . Is Hills the Australian? Because I'd love to see that guy live.

Yes, this! And the same for Ross Noble who I adore but only in small doses. I saw this great interview with Noble where they show a clip of him photo-stalking, randomly jumping into SE Asian group photos, lol. Smashing.

I've seen some of his stand-up, and I did like it. But I prefer his stand-up to, say, HIM. I don't always get the scripted stuff. But then, I don't try to watch it. I think Al Murray is pretty overrated as comedians go, though, and there was this guy on Comedy Roadshow last week who I wanted to STAB in the FACE with a PITCHFORK. So.

Anyway: great list! We should do this again! Wait, what?

I was talking about him on twitter last night and I couldn't remember what he was called or whether he was Australian. Oh, it's not, say, season 3 (!!!!) and the comedy is low rent, but I love the story. Isabel is GREAT and crazy. There's a scene in the second half, though, that is my favourite, and deliciously old school.

The baseball bat scene is the best thing. I loved it. So Nancy!
