Damn me and my shipper heart. Serious to god, I've only seen half of the first episode of CSI: NY and already I'm shippin' the scene, reading the fic, pontificating etc. (But seriously this fic and this one are so beautiful and angsty).

Stella/Mac reminds me of old-school CJ/Toby when the fic was about long-distance relationships (and never about the wife when, damn, of course, it really WAS about the wife). It's a softer, less bitter version of CJ/Toby, where the cynicism is less linked to transcontinental not-love and more to very old, very true and constant relationships. (That CJ loves California and Toby can't stand it says the world for that ship - my dearest OTP - but Stella and Mac live and love NYC so they're at least in the same world). I don't know if there's more optimism in the S/M ship or if I'm just wishing it there (because, of course, CJ/Toby is totally subtext and in-your-face in a non-in-your-face way) but I'm here and I'm shippy and I'm gonna shake it down...or something.
